Shroom Bois by Torculus

[raw]
made by Torculus for LD 44 (JAM)

A 2-player cooperative game with a glowy mushroom aesthetic. The cavern is dark and you must use your glow to see your way through. Be careful, as whenever you take damage, your brightness decreases making it harder to see.

Made for Ludum Dare 44

I love the graphics and the atmosphere of this game, its dark and gloomy without being creepy thanks to the music. I just had a few issues, one, when it launched the game wouldn't let me turn the game resolution up past 640 x 480, it would still let me full screen but it would be super blurry. And 2, i wasn't sure what the G or control buttons where supposed to do, when I pressed them it didn't seem like anything happened.

I like the light-kind of style you use on this game. looks totally fits and catchy.
but the mechanic is so good and the way to playing with light on a contrast environment really gives an atmosphere.

Thanks for the comments! Really appreciate the feedback! @greenboxgames Sorry to hear about the issue! No clue what caused it, it seems to work fine for us. Also yeah we could be more clear with the buttons, it allows you to heal with the orb! In any case thank you again for the kind words! We really appreciate it!

Absolutely beautiful game. Loved the audio. The 2 character mechanic is REALLY cool, but it made me feel old because I couldn't steer the 2 characters at the same time very well haha :)

Good job!

This game is just beautiful. Simply beautiful. Wish it had some sort of single player option though.

@itsduckyyyy Thanks for the feedback! Honestly I feel the same, single player would be fun! But would've taken too long to implement. Maybe sometime later?

This was so much fun! It looks and sounds great too. my friend and I played and we got stuck on the part with the big wall and the button on the raised platform.

@cody-foster Glad you enjoyed! I get the getting stuck, it's not fully clear how to solve, however the key is in the ability to push the other player with your attack! Thanks so much for the feedback!

nice game ,It is very suitable for two people to play together. Sometimes, one person can't tell which one is controlled by which hand.

@zhaojun8443 Thanks for the feedback! It can get a bit confusing yes, but what can you do lol, future fixes galore!

Well done! Like it. Tried to play it alone, which is kind of funny, but difficult.

What I find strange is, that the Left Side (so WSAD controller) is for the bottom player and Arrow-Controls are for the top player. You normally read from left to right and top to bottom, so I'd expect the WSAD controllers for the top player.

The visuals are really cute, like the effects and if you get hit, that the light of the player slowly goes out. Like the idea of the puzzles!

Beautiful aesthetic. Makes me wish I had a friend... or that you had single player mode! I found controlling both of them to be beyond my skills.

Love the SFX as well.

Not a detraction, but if you're building out of Unity, you might as well do WebGL and avoid the installation process.

@manuel-rauber Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! The thing you say about the controls is really interesting, didn't even think of that, but I totally agree! That would make more intuitive sense!

@trevor-shoe Thanks for the feedback, single player would be great and so would having a friend lol.

Funny little game, smooth and cute ! But we had some problems on browser because the Ctrl button for player 2 keeps doing shortcuts like... closing the tab :/ Great job anyway !

Wow, this is gorgeous! I love the concept, it's really well done and looks/feels polished. It was a bit challenging to play single player though

Amazing art direction, love the colors, the lighting and the atmosphere. Same with the sounds. Very nice mood.
I tried playing along and it wasn't very easy :joy: but it was still fun. I feel like it doesn't fully cover 'health as currency' as a theme but I still enjoyed it. Great job!

Nice atmosphere. I like puzzle game coop. Sound and graphics are cool and the game play too ! It's probably a type of game I would play. But I don't understand the relation with the theme.

The graphics and music/sounds were great! I felt bad whenever I got hit - my poor Shroom! :( But otherwise good stuff. A single player version would be very fun (and maybe challenging too!)
