Heart Knight by mutt

[raw]
made by mutt for LD 44 (JAM)

Simple platformer made using HaxeFlixel, Gimp, Tiled, and Pico-8 for sounds. You collect hearts for health and any extra goes into your savings and you can withdraw using an atm.

Keyboard Controls: Arrow Keys, Z is Jump, X is sword, Enter activates ATM's and other objects.

Gamepad Controls: Stick/Dpad to move, A is Jump, X is Sword, B activates ATM's and other objects.

Update: I got a HTML5 build up! (First I had to figure out how to get haxeflixel to export the damn thing without problems...) I also fixed a couple of map related bugs. (Unescapable pits and a door that let you skip level 2.)

Graphics are top-notch! Gameplay reminds me of "Robot wants kitty", good job. I love how the theme was implemented with the ATM/savings mechanic!

I really like the literal interpretation of the theme! Despite that there isn't really an ultimate goal/direction for the gameplay, I enjoyed messing around with it all the same. Well done!

This was really nice, especially the enemy designs. The atmosphere is already great, even better if it had music or some ambient sound!

Very good! The game is nice and having no display picture is kinda wronging it.

I love the game, the looks, the sounds, etc.
I managed to get stuck at one time in a 'pit' that looked it would go to a lower level. The character could still move but not jump anymore.
Besides that, an excellent game that deserves further development.

Solid platforming! I like the automatic deposit of extra hearts. Was there a way to destroy the heart blocks? I kept wanting to sacrifice a life to push forward! Great work!

Nice job with the tileset! Smooth movement, really like the double jump.
One notice: I have a qwertz keyboard, and it's a kind of uncomfortable to use x and z (sometimes at the same time). It would be better to have q + e or SPACE + CTRL.

Nice little platformer! Cool you used pico8 and stuff. Would have loved to had some ambient background music (I used the web version btw). Otherwise, good job! :)

In all aspects, this game is strong mix of all qualities that go into a good game. The sprite work is good, the game feel is there, and added effects such as screen shake are present as well. The sound effects are very fitting and are the some of the best audio I have heard in this entire jam, for me personally. It has so many strengths, that I cannot find any flaws easily. It's fun, responsive, and polished. Very good job!

Nice! I'm lame and had double-jump problems, maybe I'm picky about arrow vs WASD, and I found a way sort double jump (accidentally) thru the top of the level and into and inescapable chunk of wall.
It's an awesome entry regardless, great job!

The graphics on this entry are absolutely gorgeous. The gameplay is also pretty fun. (If a bit unforgiving) The heart atms were a unique thing, and worked well. Overall a very solid entry; well done!
