Description and controls
Easter Shabobble is a short little game about collecting easter eggs. Download the desktop version for better graphics and overall better performance.
Use WASD to move, 'e' to pick up items, 'q' to drop items, press 'p' to pause the game or return to the menu, and press the spacebar to jump.
Sometimes you get stuck on moving platforms which can cause a soft lock. I'm too tired to fix it right now.

Inspiration and theme
I chose to express the theme "space is running out" by giving the player a shrinking inventory and also limit the amount of times the player can press the spacebar. The Easter theme was an impulsive choice.

Challenges and experience
This Ludum Dare went fairly well, especially compared to my struggle during LD41. I lost a solid four hours due to a rather slow process of making a backup of all locally saved files. I also started a bit late due to living in Europe. However, for the first time in a while, I really like my LD submission.

Known glitches and bugs
If you have any clue what may cause the bugs with a bounty on them, please leave a comment: - eggs despawning if they are picked up and you get hit at the same time.

bug fixes and patch note
- Web version was broken so I rebuild and reuploaded it.
- the player sometimes gets stuck on moving platforms (had to move some functions from Update() to FixedUpdate() )
- sounds act weird when game is paused (apparently removing an audio listener does not remove all audio)
- the 'fastest' option on desktop versions doesn't work and needs to be removed (FixedUpdate fixes this as well but I removed this option anyways)
- some trampolines don't get you where you need to go when you lose too much speed (made trampoline jump speed independent from walk speed) (note that the unity project on itch does not have these fixes)

This games deserves some screen in this LDJAM page, because is sooooo cute and funny.
Pretty solid also, it have no bugs or major problems.
Soundtrack is ok, nice and simple.
Good work! Have a nice day :)
I feel like the implementation of the "running out of space" theme actually detracts from the game though. I think I would find it more fun to just have unlimited egg slots, so I'm free to explore and search for the puzzle eggs without losing all my slots.
Well done.
The only pities:
- the bugs are annoying
- only 6 levels!
I don't really like the carry limit, and having to wait for moving platforms is made all the more stressful when your inventory space is ticking down with the timer. The limited jumps are also made more awkward by the fact that the jumps don't always go where you want them to go. If the controls were a little tighter, then the inventory timer and jump limit would be more tolerable, but I don't think they really feel good in their current state.
Good luck🍀
You did mention that every level is beatable by jumping. Having said that, there was a level, where i literally ran out of space and had to go nowhere.
It looks like you like rabbits/bunnies. If so, check out my game - it has bunnies to :)
Once again
Challenge done ! :p I got all the yellow eggs too but i don't know where i can screen a proof of that
Nice game overall, graphics is great, sound is good except the enemy footstep
Fix physics a bit and i'll be really good :)
oh and add a replay level button too

It's a very nice looking and sounding game, and while I did encounter a number of minor bugs there was nothing game breaking about any of them. The controls were smooth and the character felt good to control except maybe when trying to use the moving platforms. I like the ideas going on with the gameplay, though I was left a little confused by the puzzle eggs purpose, it seemed at odds with the idea of collecting a set number of eggs. (for example I was trying to find all of the puzzle eggs in one level, but I was moved on to the next one before I had even had a chance to properly explore the current stage.
If your intention was to make a collectathon style game then make the focus on exploration and finding secrets, or if you were wanting to make it more of a race game (ie collect things against a clock) then perhaps make it so that you have to find all of the items in a level to complete it.
Overall, I enjoyed this game and I hope you continue to develop games in the future.
As for the puzzle eggs, it is possible to collect them all in one (fairly fast) run if you plan your back-and-forth-trips accordingly. The first run through the game could be used to locate the eggs and the second to collect them very fast or you could choose to completely ignore them. The purpose of them is merely so that there is some more dynamic gameplay in this game that (intentionally) lacks any hardcore challenges. There was also the thought that 'Easter Eggs' should be hidden, but it would be infuriating for casual players if the pink eggs were hidden and they couldn't progress the level because of it. If you can't find the puzzle eggs, you can still clear the level. If you want to find the puzzle eggs it will be more of a challenge but you will get a reward.
Anyway, that's the design philosophy behind it. I'm glad you enjoyed the game
Great graphics and presentation. Music fit the mood well. Not very challenging, but given the topic maybe that's not a bad thing!
A couple suggestions:
- The theme seemed forced, and I think the game could be better if you just got rid of it altogether.
- There were times when there were graphical elements that blocked the entire screen. Didn't happen too often, but enough that it was distracting.
- The end of level fade out is really long. It could be greatly shortened with no problems.
Kinder eggs?
I played your game once more and I was refering to level 5 with the moving platforms. I thought you had to jump on them to get on them. But I soon figured out that you can walk on to them. Don't know why i thought that. mustve made an assumption.
Upon playing it again, theres a few other things I noticed:
-- The artwork on the side is briliant but i thought it was distracting. Personally, I like the whole screen filled up with just the game. When I played the HTML version previously, i noticed this less. When I played the Windows EXE fullscreen, i noticed the borders more.
-- In some levels there is empty green-ness. Occasionally, I broke free beyond the level to look for some hidden treasures - i didnt find any and felt meh...
-- If found out that if i go on a speed pad I can go through those foxes on skaeteboards without taking a hit. I dont know whether is is supposed to happed or not.
However, as others have said before, the controls felt slow and unresponsive, especially the jump. Ah and you might want to reward the player for collection all of the puzzle eggs, otherwise they're kinda pointless right now. Aside from those things I think you did a good job for a compo entry
I had a bug: When I picked up an item and got hit at the same time, the egg despawned and I didn't receive it, so I was unable to pass that level.
My biggest suggestion would be maybe a bit more variance in the sound effects, and make them fall off a little more when the emitter is offscreen. There were a few levels where it grew a little cacophonous.
Great submission! Thanks guys!
(Just one question, what is the puzzle eggs for ? When we pick up the four in each level, something happens ?)
Note: in the video above you can notice that my puzzle is missing some pieces.
Guess I should also include a video:

Nevertheless, Good entry!
