Snapic by Kyle Skoda

[raw]
made by Kyle Skoda for LD 43 (JAM)

Snapic is a game where you have a brand new social media page called Snapic!

You have 30 days until your party begins. Try to gain the most amount of followers within that time, just don't go overboard!

Controls: Just your mouse no need for a keyboard (who uses a keyboard anyways?).

Snapic was made by a group of three. (The other two don't have LD accounts so they are listed here instead)

First a note for others playing this game: I had to enable 'alternate download mode' in itch to install this one, the download wasn't working without it. In the downloads, just click 'downloads not starting' if this comes up.

The game was actually really humorous and some of the posts towards the end were quite funny! And I loved how increasing followers sacrificed real friends; it felt fitting. I quite liked the pixel art in the second options of photos, but the left options were clearly just photos with a pixel filter applied. It would have been nice to see the nice pixel art continue throughout the game, but sadly, no. I quite liked the degree of choice that you had. The more of a rich asshole you became, the less friends you had, and you could choose what to say and post. The actual UI could do with some work, as many of the buttons didn't highlight when you hovered over them. The message buttons don't highlight, so I initially assumed that they didn't work. Some of the animations were a bit long, particularly the change of day animation and the notification animation, which blocked the power button, temporarily preventing you from progressing. You could maybe have these move faster or react to input (flick up a notification to dismiss). Overall, the game was quite funny, and whilst the theme of sacrifice isn't instantly obvious, it is once you play to the end. Well done, and keep developing!

It's funny and creative! I like the art and messages. Although isn't it easy to win many followers and keep friends with just choosing the "reality check" options?

@suchista It may seem that way although the "reality check" options won't add the friends to the blocked section it will have a 25% chance at the friend showing up to the party and a 75% chance they won't show up.

I liked the multiple endings and the texting but I really think that this game needs some audio, and the notifications need to be quicker.
