Occupational Hazard (HTML) by legavroche

[raw]
made by legavroche for LD 43 (JAM)

You are a secret service agent. A true professional who will do what is necessary to ensure that your leader is safe. No matter the cost and no matter the sacrifice, you will keep him safe.

Ensure the VIP is not hit by any projectiles by blocking it with an agent and make sure bombs don't detonate near him!

[12/04/18 - 9:57pm: Some were reporting that they could not move after the first agent died, which prevented them from playing further. This has now been fixed. Thank you for the feedback!

Controls and tips:

We recommend using the arrow buttons with your right hand for movement, while the left hand controls the other commands. Also, use "F" and "G" in order to quickly group up inactive agents towards the selected agent or VIP.

[1, 2, 3] - Press 1,2,3 to swap between agent 1, 2, and 3 respectively. (Not working on numpad)

F - Group up inactive agents onto the selected agent

G - Group up inactive agents onto the VIP

Left-shift - Run

Spacebar - Pick up or drop bombs

Seu game é bem legal e com os graphicos bem bacanas, mas sua jogabilidade é meio confusa e eu não me adaptei com os seus comandos. É um jogo que combina perfeitamente com o tema, e achei bem criativo!

Very clever, and good gameplay. I can see this getting bigger with more variety and polish. One thing, you should ditch the run button: it's just needless bloat.

Really like the strategy-game style group-up commands, clever idea, solid execution. Nice work!

Sometimes i missed the button i wanted to use. Maybe it would be better to group the keys closer to each other.
Overall nice idea and executed very well.
Go on and develop it further for more gameplay!

Control scheme was a bit overwhelming but swapping between the three guys was a blast ;). Good job!

@altega Hi, are you getting an error on the itch.io site or do you mean you can’t reach the site?

@goatboatgames @jevgeni-orehhov @earlybard Ahh.. yep the controls were one of our biggest worries while designing the game, we’ll try to improve upon it in a post jam version. Thanks for playing!

Your game is very cool, I really liked the concept.
I played the Html5 version, the only downside for me was when I died with my first character I lost the control of the others.

When the first bodyguard dies you can't control any more. Other than that it is a cool concept.

@sockyman @lucecyl Thank you guys we realized agent switching doesn't work for numpad.

The character swapping is a great mechanic. It's a really interesting the way you shift importance onto an npc and make the player expendable. This game subverted a lot of expectations: moving towards bullets, jumping on grenades, and so forth. I could see something along these lines making a really great full game. Well done.

Go figure the VIP has no sense of self-preservation and is so self-important you can't tell him not to go somewhere. XD

Concept is really good, music and art was awesome. Just the controls needing some love is really the only feedback, great job.

I made it to about 90 seconds. Really fun idea! I had some trouble with space bar registering, it seemed it only worked intermittently and kept failing me when I most needed to pick up and run with a bomb!

Cool concept -- lots going on right from the start made it difficult. Consider easing into it more with rising difficulty. I know it's inevitable, but I personally don't love mix of politics & games parody or otherwise...

@sky-coding ahh, we noticed that in our playthroughs as well that there seemed to be a delay in letting users instantly pickup and drop the bombs. We will try to iron that issue out in a postjam version. Thanks for playing!

@wyatt - that’s a respectable opinion, and thank you for giving our game a try despite that!

That was fun ! The graphics were pretty good, as well as the sound.

The difficulty was a bit unfair sometimes though.

Was super confused at first, but after reading comments I realized I had missed the swap between 3 mechanic. Super glad I played it again, really funny concept and execution. Nicely done!
