This was hard lol. I love the art you made (especially the background) and the music. I feel like the spikes have a little too big of collision box which made some jumps irritating. Overall, well done! It felt good to beat it.

@callavicka thanks mate! we consider polishing it a little bit more. The information with the collision is gold :v:

I do not know if the level designer is very hardcore, but I like it.

The drawn art is spot on. The art style is fitting to the game, and it would be great if the rest of the level looked the same also. This game is hard, no doubt about it, checkpoints are nice but it would be good to make enemies attack have more buildup, so you can kill them without dying, but only if you're good enough.

This was really fun with great sound design — I kept playing just for that "agh" when the guy dies! This brought a huge smile to my face!

The platforming mechanics for this game felt really good. Jumping, double-jumping and dashing all made me feel like I was really in control of my movement. Great job!

I'm not great at platformers but got stuck on level 2 at a point where it looked like I had to drop down and then dash left. I couldn't make the drop work, maybe making the platform above a bit smaller would allow the player to drop and dash left.

Great job team! The frequent save points were awesome, it allowed me to fail often without losing the 'flow'.

Great controls and awesome musics/sounds ! That death sound effect is great ;D !
I also really liked the background art, just a shame a bit more effort wasn't put in for the platforms, those gray boxes break the immersion slightly. But of course this was made in a short period of time so it's sompletely understandable :) !
Anyway all in all a solid game jam entry, keep it all up !

@nobongo You are right, at the end we struggled a bit with the time when designing the levels. Your comment on the enemies is also very helpful, thanks

@disperse Nice that you kinda liked the positions of the checkpoints. The second level was eventually on some parts a bit to hard (seen in your screenshot ), probably play testing comes a bit to short

@noa-calice thanks man, yes the gray boxes look not that nice, for the next jam we will take some time to make the game overall more polished

I played till my 100. death and got stuck somewhere in level 2. :( But to my surprise it wasn't frustrating at all but a lot of fun to try to get to the next section of the level. I like the controls a lot; jumping and dashing feels very smooth and rewarding and the leveldesign is also quite nice and has a lot of diversities.
For me the background music was a bit too distracting but the other sound effects were fun to hear :D

@aker nice to hear that the game wasn't frustrating for you! we showed the game also to some friends and unfortunately they all agreed on the fact that it is frustrating  really appreciate your feedback!

@madrededios haha yeah they are a bit tough, sometimes is smart to just dash past the enemy before they explode

Your game is so hard! The sounds are great as the graphics. The controls are well done too.

Great job! This felt super accomplishing to beat. The level design really stuck out to me, because of how good it is while also being difficult. The dash was well utilized, and I like the background a lot. Your use of theme was great. You sacrifice enemies drops to use checkpoints, and all under a time limit because Cronos is the titan of time. The controls felt really solid, and deaths almost never felt cheap. I really liked the difficulty curve. Despite seeming overwhelming at first, you can get through with enough practice. Due to your first impression of the difficulty, it feels amazing to beat a section, let alone the game. Great job, and keep it up!

that is sooooo difficult xD Nice game.
I Think the hitboxes of some obstacles could be a bit smaller and sometimes you jump somewhere and the first attept you don't know whats happening. maybe a little bigger field of view would be nice.
But verry verry nice :-)

@plagueofminds wow, thanks for your impressions to our game. Its nice to see that some of you guys really had fun playing the game. :v:

@stames you are totally right, we had a list of task that were still open, but unfortunately we didn't come to the point of resizing the hit boxes

That was challenging, I think that sometimes you should work more on the level design, but nice background music, and the demon on the background was very nice

I loved this game! Others have already said that the collision was super clunky and made a lot of the challenges harder than they should have been, and the positioning of some of the spikes and walls didn't help either. To be honest, it feels like you guys got so used to playing your game that you made some of the challenges almost too hard! (Either that or you all belong to the cult of super devilishly hard platformer enthusiasts) (Mostly) no harm done though. The game was really fun, and the double jump and dash moves felt really smooth and rewarding!

I liked game, convenient control, but random rays very often kill, and it's hard to avoid them)

The game was a bit too hard for me in level two. I got through that point that was mentioned before but then afterwards there is some combination that is just really difficult. And no checkpoint in between. Generally I liked the style you decided for, the combination of having only left, right, jump and dash moves. Nice what can be achieved with them. I didn't get the sacrifices that much though. I got that the bar on the left gets clear, when you do one sacrifice and that means no sudden rays. But I feel like there is no reward for giving more than one of the sacrifices to the same position, because you don't really win time. I would like it, if the bar was moving more slowly if you do that a lot or i don't know... some kind of feedback. ;)

@ente you are probably right. At level two there are some hardcore jump'n'dash combos. Our goal for the next jam is to definitely take more time for the play testing part. The meaning of the sacrifices could also have been improved by placing the altars more frequently, but we want to make the game challenging. Your idea with earning time when sacrificing souls came also in our mind but a nice balancing would have taken to long so we discarded the idea. Overall thanks for your feedback!

Probably my favorite game I've played so far this jam. Gave me the old kaizo mario bros feeling. This was lovely from start to finish. Only two issues:

1.) You very often can't see things below you that you're going to land on. But hey, that's the game and life isn't fair. In theme, but happened so very often it did start to wear on me.

2.) There's a bug (gamebreaking in some places) where you can continually dash and jump if you're running into a wall.

I really liked the sound effects and how you pitch toned your voice, and the graphics were pretty nice.
