The idea is that each time you feed, you're taking on a risk that sacrifices must be made, be it mood or health, but you're forced to feed, to take that risk, when the stomach bar is not full. You need to keep the scribbler happy but doing that makes it unhealthy, keeping it healthy however, makes it unhappy. It only writes good things about you if it's happy, to increase or maintain your reputation.
