With random phases throughout the game, it's kind of a luck based chess game. With absolutely no special effects or such. Because I am a total newbie!\r\n\r\nWith each phase, one type of piece on the whole board, morphs. Evolves into something else, something more powerful. Like a Giant or an Alien!\r\n\r\nI have included a little info box in-game so that you don't have to figure out that Rook...I mean Giants now explode after the phase change :) How good of a developer I am! Also, Devil's Pawn is a pun. You see it's like devil spaw... Okay moving on!\r\n\r\nKeep in mind that this is a compo game and I have done everything by myself. Except for the font, that's made by codeman38... And the game-icons.net helped with the phase icons because... I suck. And sounds are made by bfxr... Anyway, back to the game!\r\n\r\nThis is my second ludum dare and I feel like I am getting better at being sleepy and not doing anything that's worth the time :)\r\n\r\nThanks for playing!\r\n\r\nPS: If the gif doesn't animate: http:\/\/gph.is\/1SfhCjW\r\nPPS: I'm going to get some sleep and regret what I wrote here after few hours later.\r\nPPPS: There could be tons of bugs, since the essential hours that I spent my time on this was the logic and I am too tired to spend more time on it so, I'm sorry guys :) I tried my best this time though!\r\n\r\nEdit: Yes, there is no check in this game since it is kind of a different and chaotic version of chess. If you can kill the king, you will win. No check or mate. (OFC it was intentional you shut up :P)\r\n\r\nEdit #2: I forgot to mention a lot of things about the game because I was VERY sleepy. The game is basically a 2 player chess-like board game, since I wasn't able to code an AI. You can still hot seat with your friends though or play against yourself to test the game. I will try to implement an AI in the future after LD is over.\r\n\r\nAbout the morphed pieces: There is an in-game info box, but I'll still explain here a little so you won't get surprised.\r\nPawn: Can move like it's the pawn's first turn (2 space forward or take diagonal)\r\nRook: Will explode a 3x3 area AFTER the phase is over. I needed to make some phases bad, you know.\r\nBishop: Will teleport to and take a unit anywhere on the board. I know it is overpowered but a bit of overpowered pieces are necessary to make this game faster. Also your opponent can use that too.\r\nKnight: Can move or take anywhere or anything within a 3x3 area.\r\nQueen: Can move anywhere on the board, but cannot take any pieces.\r\nKing: Cannot move but cannot be destroyed. Will destroy any piece that tries to take him until the phase is over.\r\n\r\nHave fun!","title":"Chexshift"}
