Anthill by mikelovesrobots

[raw]
made by mikelovesrobots for LD 44 (COMPO)

Anthill is a short puzzle/action game based on a physical arcade game from 1983 called Zeke's Peak, which I have never played, but once saw a youtube video of.

My top hole is 7 :( (Graphics really cool and gameplay is unique)

Cool, fresh gameplay with physics, controls worked perfect. Probably loose on the theme.
Got to 10 with one life left. Good job!

nice challenging game especially if you have a german keyboard and z and y are switched

This is a nice, simple game. Easy to play, but hard to master. The controls and the physics work really well. Good job!

I think this concept is genius, well done. Even without any sound and minimal visuals I found it very fun. My biggest complaint is how recovering from mistakes can't really be done, as in you can't get back lives that you lost to something stupid earlier.

Nice game! Really well polished and challenging!
Although, it would be nice if you added some audio and made sure people can't press both sides at the same time!
you know, just to make it harder

@jk-studio I wondered if that was going to be a problem.

I really liked how the controls felt, and the game looks really good! Felt very polished. My only complaint was that if I went quite slowly it wasn't so hard. Maybe introducing a mechanic to force me to rush would have made it more action packed.

Oh my god, if I had some money spare, I would absolutley donate some to you. This kind of genius is what we need in gaming. The whole thing works so well. Love it, only the theme was a very loose fit as gilborn said. Love it @mikelovesrobots

This is cool! I want to keep playing. I would love to see this integrated with a controller. This is one of those instances where I really feel like having the analog control of joysticks would be really useful. It would really smooth out the experience.

Won on 2nd try! What an amazing game and idea!

1st try, I tried to do this the normal way until I reached the 7th hole. Realized its impossible to do it normally, so I tried to take the ball all the way to the border. Found that the ball doesn't fall off the screen (I figured it would, since there is no "boundary' so to say around the edges). Once I realized that, it was a smooth sailing.

Wish the game had a "free-play" mode as well, so I can keep playing it over and over :D Maybe a timer could add challenge as well! SO MANY good ideas that can be implemented in the future to make the game even more amazing! Loved it!

Felt kind of fresh :)

I like the art style, and otherwise felt suprisingly polished.

A twin-stick gamepad would prbably fit this game well!

Some sound effects and music would probably have been nice :)

Really nice idea, could definitely see how this could go places if you started to introduce little mechanic variations!

Was pretty fun but a little let due to no sound or nice calming music as you're trying to navigate all the holes!

Nice game, i like the premise and how the gameplay works (even though i'm missing the theme here)
The Art is adequate, Sound would've been nice :) My game bugged out at hole 4. The next ball just didn't spawn.
Also, it's not a good idea to use z (or y) as keys for games like this, because on european keyboards, the z is on the sport, where your y is, which made controlling this game a whole lot more difficult :/

Other than that, quite nice game!

Interesting game and unusual gameplay. I could not completely understand the connection to the theme but at least it's a very creative idea. Sadly there is no music, so it got a little boring even though I finished it. Nice entry though!

Very creative, and nice and simple. It reminds me of some kind of Warioware game. Would be better with music though. Well done!

You do a good job teaching the player the various possible movements of the stick with the hole placements, I was pretty surprised at the maneuverability by the end.

Good work, I'd enjoy playing other puzzle games by you.

Ok, this has nothing to do with the theme, but it was an AMAZING experience. But it's not for impatient people  hehe

This comment is short because I need to go play Anthill some more. :)

Very well done.

The minimalist visuals really makes the game seem polished! I really like the animations you have with the UI elements. The gameplay is so simple yet addicting for some reason. Good job!

Short game but pretty enjoyable to figure out. The visuals are simple but nice-looking. I guess the respawn sequence could have been faster (which says a lot about how bad I am at this...), but I didn't have problems with the gameplay. Nicely done! Only thing I'm not sure about is how this is connected to the theme, as many have already expressed.

This is very fun to play! I like how simple it looks, yet very polished. I felt like spawn time was a bit too slow (died a lot lol). Very unique game!
