Dovregubben by Ava Skoog

Can you evade the troll for long enough for the sun to rise and turn it to stone before you perish, and can you afford risking your life by plunging downhill to get ahead of this foe?

A loose but working interpretation of the theme. Your life is not currency in the sense of money, but you can choose to "pay with your life" (to an extent) by jumping several platforms down when the risk seems worth it.
I usually do three day jams, but I was moving to a new home this weekend and missed the first day—still happy I got something together!

Sounds from zapsplat.com.
Partial melody by Edvard Grieg (In the hall of the mountain king / I dovregubbens hall) is public domain. I used a MIDI and cut out a part of the song and assigned my own instrumentation and tempo and made it loop properly.
Controllers 🎮
Keyboard only. Arrows or AD to move left and right, down arrow or S to jump straight down.

Good stuff :8ball:
Is it even possible to win at it or is it just me?
Controls could be more reactive - there is a delay between pressing a button and turning around. It could be intentional (character slides on the snow) but it would be better if character turns immediately (and still can slide turned to wanted direction). I believe it would feel better with this little change.
Anyway, great job!
I found myself wanting to slap the keyboard a lot, I was very into the game :D
Also I think falling a large distance doesn't give you much of an advantage, since the troll spawns immediately on the same platform argh.
So it takes strategic planning to beat it, I had to plan my route. Very impressive Ava!! Well done!
