Faster Than Wind by alhime
What's going on
You, a Captain of pirate ship, are on your way home with a mountain of treasure. But, when you loaded the treasure onto your ship, you forgot to check the food storage.
Now you must find a way to get back home even if it means going through dangerous waters or making your own crew walk the plank... And all while the food lasts.
But fear not, cause if you organize your crew right, not even the tallest waves will stand in your way. May you have a safe journey.
How to play
There are only few posts to which pirates can be assigned on the ship. Each post has its max capacity, which determines how many pirates can be there at the same time. The posts, together with their max capacity are marked with red on the image below.

You will need to find optimal placement of the pirates in order to beat the game.
Make sure that your crew can see where the ship can go, and that you pick your preferred path before end of each turn.

Drag and drop pirates around, and have fun.
To end the turn, and see its effect click on the button in the lower right corner.

P.S. You should probably also pay attention to the pirate and ship stats.
Say Hello
Hi all, we are team Pst_Plauge and this is the first game we made together. Most of us have zero or very little experience with Unity so this proved to be quite a challenge but we tried to make everything from scratch and see how far we can go. The game we present to you is very much unfinished and a lot of features we wanted are left unimplemented, but nonetheless we hope that you will enjoy it!
May we Jam again, Team Pst_Plauge

It was quite unclear where you can even move the pirates, but ulitmately I was able to beat the game. I enjoyed it quite a bit, I am a fan of resource management games.
Good job, congratulations!
I missed a tutorial, unfortunately the crew died. I liked the song =]
The main selling points of this game are clearly the audio and art.
The game mechanics didn't feel that well designed and therefor not that fun either.
Try to work on that the next time.
Also try to give the user some visual clues on what he can do, for exemple put little indicators on where pirates might be put to work. It took me a while to realise that I could move them...
Anyway now I've got that tune in my head for the rest of the day... Thanks ;-)
Hope you two stick to GameDev and we see annother Game of you on the next LudumDare.
Well Done
Pirates snapping to the sails is a bug, and we will probably soon upload post JAM build with bunch of game experience / UI fixes.
Edit: Post JAM builds are now uploaded.
The boat could have used a bit of movement with the waves. Still, I like the "childish" art style and the tune is catchy!
P.S. the "boom" sound is too much loud, I almost had a heart attack when hearing it
Other than that though, I couldn't really understand how everything is related to the pirates themselves. A few things were just out of my hand (the pirate encounters and sicknesses). Can they be influenced in some way I didn't find? I mean, obviously have the best pirate manning the cannon but that does nothing for the sicknesses. Maybe just the RNG God was merciless to me? I got attacked 3 times in a row by pirates. :(
Unfortunately there is little strategic depth as once you figure out optimal placements for the pirates, there is little need to move them around. Maybe having something like "Tiredness" or "Morale" that would force you to send some pirates to rest so you have to reshuffle them based on who is currently unavailable to work could add a bit in this department.
Also the Kitchen seems to do absolutely nothing. Dunno if this is by design or just wasn't implemented properly. I expected it to lower the food consumption (as coocking helps use food more optimally), but the forecast didn't show the difference. So the only use I had for it was an empty spot to shuffle pirates around - most areas only allow one person so you can't assign the right person till you move te wrong person elsewhere.
The hitboxes for work areas are also tiny, and twice I accidentally threw people offboard while trying to assign them to Oars.
The Theme is also not well presented as it is possible to get home before running out of food, without sacing any crewmembers. It takes always running through combat encounters, but you can safely handle one beating, and if you get lucky RNG to scare off attackers with Cannons, you can get home in 3 turns.
