Yottaman by Racso
:octagonal_sign: PLEASE READ BEFORE PLAYING :octagonal_sign:
Thanks for playing my Compo entry! Quick instructions: - With time, you become more powerful and dangerous, and you can make less mistakes! - EVADE the enemy bullets. In higher power levels, they bounce in your body and set the world on fire! - AIM for the enemies with your laser. Don't hit the scenario! In higher power levels, your laser sets the world on fire! - Destroy all the enemies to win! - Enemies in buildings? Just wait! They move after some time.

Join Yottaman, the most powerful hero ever, in his quest to save the world from crime. He'll get even more powerful with time, with no limit. After all, the more power you have, the best it is, right?!
* How to play *
Move with WASD or the arrow keys. Aim with the mouse. Shoot with click.
Yottaman gets more powerful with time: bullets will start to bounce in his body back to his opponents, and his lasers will get more and more powerful. Cool, right? More and more power! Everything will be fine, right?
Right?
* Changelog *
I have tweaked the difficulty down, clarified two labels and corrected the game's icon.
Thanks for playing my LD40 Compo entry! I'm also working on a post-compo version, which you may find in the Downloads section in Itch.io!

Excellent work.
Good luck! I Liked it
Text was sometimes a little hard to read, maybe you could have put a text-box behind it for better contrast. All in all a fun game!
Solid entry.
The bullet bouncing was a bit confusing to me and it took two tries to figure out that it was causing damage to the world. Not sure how you could make that more intuitive though. Maybe larger more obvious bounces?
Either way, I greatly enjoyed how your invincibility in the first part is essentially reversed to being really, really, really careful at the end. Nicely done.
It's always a good topic about how much damage superhero did!
btw I get an error at last 10 enemies, that's my best score :joy:
Oh, I am sorry. as a jammer, I should mention that how the error happened more clearly,
I think I actually lose and get the error at the same time.
There may be some calculation problem when it went to the ending, The page just jumps out a message box and having a lot of line with same pattern (I think it may be an array name?). After I click Enter, the game just freezed.
BTW I played on chrome and I just played the game one more time, this time I lose on remaining 19 enemies and I got to the end normally. I found that there are more than one ending (lava/broke into two half). The problem may be here?
It's the best entry I've seen so far, really good job man, 5/5 in every categories !
Actually (unless you've found some bug I haven't seen), that "bad aiming" effect is a visual effect, consequence of moving and shooting at the same time, as the lasers go from the point where they are created to the point where you clicked. If you are moving, the camera moves with you, and the lasers may seem to 1) have appeared from weird places (like the back of the hero's head, his body or out of nowhere) and 2) arrive to a wrong spot. If you shoot while staying still, the laser should appear in Yottaman's eyes and touch your pointer's tip when moving. I'm still to find a way to avoid that undesired visual behaviour.
Well done, I like the concept :) All the best!
Pls feel free to play and rate my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/split
:flag_br:
However, the game is difficult after "Dangerous” power. Almost every moves damage some properties lol.
Great work!
The problem though is the feedback - it's really hard to tell when you've hit stuff accidentally, and the way the game is designed it's very hard to avoid hitting things - being careful is one thing, having to line up weird angles like straight into the ground and such is not much fun, and distracts from the "narrative" - the player is now gaming a system rather than feeling like a crime-fighting overpowered superhero.
There should also be some incentive to hit enemies rather than "just because", like, are *they* causing destruction?
Oh and how you "get more power" seems arbitrary to me? That bit's really weird. You just get it out of the blue.
1. More enemy diversity and more mechanics (such as a second attack that can put out fires but does something else bad)
2. Clearer mechanics. I didn't really get what made my power go up. I would love a graphic that shows what is happening under the hood.
Other than that it was good!
- You gain power levels with time.
- You are too powerful to be damaged by bullets, but in power levels higher than "Some", bullets bounce in your body and can damage the world if they hit something! Conclusion: *evade the bullets*!
- Your laser also damages the world when you are in levels higher than "Some". Conclusion: *aim your laser* well so it only hits the enemies!
- In "Apocalyptic" level, your powers are too extreme, and don't give room for mistakes!
That's it. I hope you can give it another try! Thanks for playing!
Wasn't really sure what determined success either.
Quite a lot in the game for the time available though!
You win if you manage to destroy all the enemies. It's a bit hard, but possible after you understand what do you need to do to avoid losing (there are some tips on the top of this page).
Thanks for playing!
I didn't succeeded to win the game, I always ended up destroying everything, I found it easy to damage the world without even noticing it, but that should be because of my lack of skill

This is a fantastic Compo game, and a very creative way of using the theme. Making a thing so utterly strong it's actually worse for everyone. The idea of deflecting a bullet so hard it can level a building is hilarious. Fun to control, and the introduction and game over scenes were a treat. The game is easy, but actually finishing it is extremely tricky.
I don't know how often that bug I screenshot happens. It occurred when I was on apocalytpic strength and fired into the sky. Quite funny when you think about it.
Still, a fantastic compo game. Loved it. [My team](twitter.com/whalesandgames) will look forward to seeing more of your projects in the future. Cheers! :whale:
I'm really sorry for the crash, especially because I see that you were about to win the game. I've tested the game again and I couldn't reproduce it, but I'll keep trying. The hard thing is to get to know if it's actually something under my control or if it's some Unity bug :(
Thanks again for playing!
