:octagonal_sign: PLEASE READ BEFORE PLAYING :octagonal_sign:

Thanks for playing my Compo entry! Quick instructions: - With time, you become more powerful and dangerous, and you can make less mistakes! - EVADE the enemy bullets. In higher power levels, they bounce in your body and set the world on fire! - AIM for the enemies with your laser. Don't hit the scenario! In higher power levels, your laser sets the world on fire! - Destroy all the enemies to win! - Enemies in buildings? Just wait! They move after some time.

Screen2.png

Join Yottaman, the most powerful hero ever, in his quest to save the world from crime. He'll get even more powerful with time, with no limit. After all, the more power you have, the best it is, right?!

* How to play *

Move with WASD or the arrow keys. Aim with the mouse. Shoot with click.

Yottaman gets more powerful with time: bullets will start to bounce in his body back to his opponents, and his lasers will get more and more powerful. Cool, right? More and more power! Everything will be fine, right?

Right?

* Changelog *

I have tweaked the difficulty down, clarified two labels and corrected the game's icon.

Thanks for playing my LD40 Compo entry! I'm also working on a post-compo version, which you may find in the Downloads section in Itch.io!

Good game, fun and weird. I'm amazed that you could put cut scenes in your game, I wanted but didn't have time, lol.

Excellent game, it's interesting what you can make in just 2 days of work! nice plot and pretty catchy too. Tried to finish it to 0 enemies, but this Yottaman became so strong that any mistake meant the end of humanity, haha.

Good luck! I Liked it

Great compo entry, especially considering you've got sound and music too. I definitely blew up the world several times, but at least it was just the Americas.

That music made stuff really fun! :D Was fun to kind of live this "power fantasy" for a bit.
Text was sometimes a little hard to read, maybe you could have put a text-box behind it for better contrast. All in all a fun game!

haha really fun to play! I very like the animation of the character. But the bullets of the enemies are little bit to small. Great entry!

A humorous game with a great concept! The graphics and music suit the game well. I do not know if it is designed on purpose, but it seems that one strategy is to just fly high and wait enemies to disappear automatically...

06. Dec 2017 · 01:20 UTC
@chaosinism Thanks! Actually, that doesn't work: the counter of "Remaining enemies" shows the amount of enemies to be spawned yet. They are simply spawning while you are up there; if you get back to the ground, you'll find an army of enemies!

@eric-florio Thanks! Just to clarify: when you get power upgrades, you start destroying it with your lasers and with bullets that bounce on your body.

@racso But is there something I could do about it? Is it possible to kill all the bad guys without destroying america? hehehe
🎤 Racso
06. Dec 2017 · 02:30 UTC
@eric-florio Haha, sure. You need two things: to evade the enemies' bullets, and to aim your lasers so they don't hit the buildings, the floor or the car. It gets difficult, but can be done!

06. Dec 2017 · 03:20 UTC
This is indeed difficult, but a well executed game. The graphics were simple but effective and you even managed to get sound in there!

The bullet bouncing was a bit confusing to me and it took two tries to figure out that it was causing damage to the world. Not sure how you could make that more intuitive though. Maybe larger more obvious bounces?

Either way, I greatly enjoyed how your invincibility in the first part is essentially reversed to being really, really, really careful at the end. Nicely done.

Really good way to fit the theme!

06. Dec 2017 · 13:57 UTC
Hi, @goldranger. What kind of error did you get? Did the game crash? Where you playing the web version, or the desktop version? Has it happened once or several times? Thanks for the help!
GoldRanger
06. Dec 2017 · 14:26 UTC
@racso
Oh, I am sorry. as a jammer, I should mention that how the error happened more clearly,
I think I actually lose and get the error at the same time.
There may be some calculation problem when it went to the ending, The page just jumps out a message box and having a lot of line with same pattern (I think it may be an array name?). After I click Enter, the game just freezed.
BTW I played on chrome and I just played the game one more time, this time I lose on remaining 19 enemies and I got to the end normally. I found that there are more than one ending (lava/broke into two half). The problem may be here?

Wow, mind blowing game. That music fits insanely well in this game, even if I don't really like the aim (Missiles goes above mouse pointer), the rest feels epic and I could play hours on this game at its current state.

It's the best entry I've seen so far, really good job man, 5/5 in every categories !

06. Dec 2017 · 21:38 UTC
@masadow Thanks for your kind and encouraging words! I'm really happy you liked the game that much!

Actually (unless you've found some bug I haven't seen), that "bad aiming" effect is a visual effect, consequence of moving and shooting at the same time, as the lasers go from the point where they are created to the point where you clicked. If you are moving, the camera moves with you, and the lasers may seem to 1) have appeared from weird places (like the back of the hero's head, his body or out of nowhere) and 2) arrive to a wrong spot. If you shoot while staying still, the laser should appear in Yottaman's eyes and touch your pointer's tip when moving. I'm still to find a way to avoid that undesired visual behaviour.

The game is interesting, it has a good dynamic. It would be interesting more feedbacks for a future release. And the bullet thrown by the enemies could be bigger because it is difficult to see, and being something significant, "bigger is better". Congratulations.

:flag_br:

Great marks for innovation and humor. The artwork was great, and I really like the concept. I think this was very well done. The only things I would change is make it so the lasers only burn buildings if you miss -- otherwise it's not worth trying to shoot criminals that are near a building. Also would be good if the game only ended after a lot more chaos and fire. Feels like a burned one care and I was done.

Great game with good concept for the theme!

However, the game is difficult after "Dangerous” power. Almost every moves damage some properties lol.

Great work!

07. Dec 2017 · 08:58 UTC
Really interesting, I love the concept and the writing is really fun.

The problem though is the feedback - it's really hard to tell when you've hit stuff accidentally, and the way the game is designed it's very hard to avoid hitting things - being careful is one thing, having to line up weird angles like straight into the ground and such is not much fun, and distracts from the "narrative" - the player is now gaming a system rather than feeling like a crime-fighting overpowered superhero.

There should also be some incentive to hit enemies rather than "just because", like, are *they* causing destruction?

Oh and how you "get more power" seems arbitrary to me? That bit's really weird. You just get it out of the blue.

I enjoyed this game! However, I do have a wishlist:

1. More enemy diversity and more mechanics (such as a second attack that can put out fires but does something else bad)

2. Clearer mechanics. I didn't really get what made my power go up. I would love a graphic that shows what is happening under the hood.

Other than that it was good!

I hope marvel incorportate Yottoman into their comics soon, he was the best. This was extremely good for a compo entry, really good job. I was a bit unsure how I was ending the game, but got used to it in the end. <3

This is the kind of thing I would like to see done with the theme! Implementation can be improved though. The action seemed random. Apparently I cannot die from enemy bullets. I didn't have any idea how I damaged the world without even firing. Enemies were a bit floaty too.

10. Dec 2017 · 21:55 UTC
@loveapplegames Hi, thanks for the comment! If you want to give it a try again, I can assure you that the gameplay is well defined. Sadly, I've concluded that the game isn't as intuitive as I wished. Some quick tips:

- You gain power levels with time.
- You are too powerful to be damaged by bullets, but in power levels higher than "Some", bullets bounce in your body and can damage the world if they hit something! Conclusion: *evade the bullets*!
- Your laser also damages the world when you are in levels higher than "Some". Conclusion: *aim your laser* well so it only hits the enemies!
- In "Apocalyptic" level, your powers are too extreme, and don't give room for mistakes!

That's it. I hope you can give it another try! Thanks for playing!

Interesting take on the theme. I was running into some performance issues in the web player on mac but could see the potential. I think it should be clearer what you are doing and that there is some kind of negative effect happening... I was clueless until I burned up all of North and South Americas :P

The ending is pretty funny, though I do get a little triggered when I see a curse word censored.

Wasn't really sure what determined success either.

Quite a lot in the game for the time available though!
🎤 Racso
12. Dec 2017 · 23:22 UTC
@seannoonan Haha, the censorship was because I wasn't sure if the rules said something about cursing and didn't have the time to check. This is my first LD, so I wanted to be careful ;)

You win if you manage to destroy all the enemies. It's a bit hard, but possible after you understand what do you need to do to avoid losing (there are some tips on the top of this page).

Thanks for playing!

That was a clever way to use the theme, and the music is really encouraging you to continue playing !

I didn't succeeded to win the game, I always ended up destroying everything, I found it easy to damage the world without even noticing it, but that should be because of my lack of skill

@wolfo Thanks for playing! You probably weren't evading the enemy bullets. They bounce in your body with so much power that they set the world on fire ;) After you become more powerful, they break the world in half with a single hit :)

If you think the One-Punch Man guy is strong, you haven't met Yottoman. He's so strong he crashed my browser.

![chrome_2017-12-14_17-35-05.png](///raw/519/z/e96b.png)

This is a fantastic Compo game, and a very creative way of using the theme. Making a thing so utterly strong it's actually worse for everyone. The idea of deflecting a bullet so hard it can level a building is hilarious. Fun to control, and the introduction and game over scenes were a treat. The game is easy, but actually finishing it is extremely tricky.

I don't know how often that bug I screenshot happens. It occurred when I was on apocalytpic strength and fired into the sky. Quite funny when you think about it.

Still, a fantastic compo game. Loved it. [My team](twitter.com/whalesandgames) will look forward to seeing more of your projects in the future. Cheers! :whale:

@moski Wow, thanks a lot! I'm quite happy you liked it, specially after playing Jazzy Beats and seeing what you guys could do!

I'm really sorry for the crash, especially because I see that you were about to win the game. I've tested the game again and I couldn't reproduce it, but I'll keep trying. The hard thing is to get to know if it's actually something under my control or if it's some Unity bug :(

Thanks again for playing!

Felicitaciones!
