[raw]
made by Madbarron for LD 44 (JAM)

Cover Image.png

Manage the life-force of your heroes to survive until nightfall!

Controls

Left-click to add a red or gold heart to a hero. More hearts means faster attacks!

Right-click to remove a heart from a hero so it can be used by someone else.

Heroes

Shift hearts around quickly to adapt to incoming waves of enemies by balancing your heroes' strengths:

Archer: Long-range, medium damage

Knight: Close range, high damage

Mage: Medium range, low splash damage

Scoring

Can you last until nightfall? Use your hearts wisely because only unused hearts (gold) count towards your score. Good luck!

I thought it was pretty fun! The title of the game and the idea are a clever take on the theme, and being able to distribute life was a really interesting mechanic. I feel like there's a lot of potential here if there was a bit more added to the core mechanics, but this was a good game.

I write this review as my mage is continuously firing fire balls, lot of fun defending while switching life, nice one.

The idea is cool and simple for a jam.
I pressed restart, so i enjoyed your game!
The volume is a bit strong
But a game for a 72h hour jam like this it's really a good one!
Keep the good work !

I wanted to play but I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong. I play on Mac and if I'm not in full screen mode then the game is too big for my screen. These types of games are very fun to play in general so congrats on finishing something for this jam!

Fun little game! I didn't realize I was supposed to keep the yellow hearts for score so I just used all of them but it was fun seeing how fast I could make them shoot. Tried again and killed the knight and wizard and committed all the hearts to the archer and had a machine gun bow. Good job!

Great fun game to relax while playing. Pumping a lot of hearts into the archer was fun and overpowered.

Definitely had fun playing this. I like the fact there is some strategy to who you give the hearts to. I was initially tempted to just give them all to the archer but over time I realized splash damage is important and that the knight is very useful for finishing off people who make it too far.

Archer is OP. Awesome work! It started lagging when things got a little too OP though.

It's simple but it takes a bit of time and strategy to succeed in the game. Cool!

Great job! Very fun, I can see this being a great mobile game. The archer sound effect felt a little off, especially since you heard it so much if you dumped a bunch of hearts into it. Well done!

I made it to nightfall! Simple game that was pretty fun. I mostly put my hearts into the archer and the mage and barely used my knight. No enemy really got close enough to give my knight any problems. Maybe in the future you might have some faster enemy types that could cause the party some problems.

I liked the concept of switching hearts to make attacks faster. The first time I accidentally killed my archer and mage but taking hearts from them when they each had only 1 heart left.

The art was great, the enemy designs were cool, and the sound effects were nice.

Great work.

Nice take on a resource management game. I came in expecting a clicker game. After a few goes I managed to score an 8.

The graphics are fantastic. Wouldn't mind sprite work like that in my own submission!

The audio is good. The music and sound effects are appropriate without being overbearing.

Many games I see that are similar to this one focus entirely on securing permanent upgrades for characters as they march to the right. Though there are only two affected attributes, health and attack speed, I think it works to this game's advantage. Being able to redistribute the resource from a character made this game a lot more interactive than many of the other games that I've played like this one. Using the same resource to act as player scoring was also a good way to improve replay value. I find this pretty innovative and fun.

Great job on this one! I enjoyed it quite a bit!

hahaha definitely archer ftw. This was lots of fun! I didn't end up switching around my points as much as I probably could have, so more incentives (or maybe more feedback on the difference in damage) would be helpful there. Really great job here!

The game is pretty good, with a Solid mechanic all through the game, with good graphics.
But just two issues:
- The archer is overpowered if you compare to others
- The mage is Way Underpowered.
- The enemies were focusing their attacks on my mage (Not the warrior that was what I expected)

The archer is the must upgrade one, you need him to be a gatling gun, medium damage but being able to apply it so far away it get's way stronger than the other options.

The archer and the mage feels like they play the same role, but the mage a weaker versions

One thing it would be cool to add on the mage is a slow down on the hit enemies.

But it was a pretty good game!!

Congratulations!!

Killed off the warrior immediately. Best decision ever made. All in on the archer (left a couple for the mage). Was very satisfying to see how powerful the archer could get :bow_and_arrow:
Good job on this!

First of all, really great take on the theme, simple but intuitive and fun gameplay. That's the kind of concept that can be taken pretty far.
The balance between each character and the way to "use" them in synergy is pretty well thought.
I didn't find the archer that overpowered. I mean, I finished the game with the archer pretty low and put pretty much everything in the mage. I preferred the Splash Damage way with an archer backup to finish enemies, the knight had practically nothing to do during the playthrough except for two or three complicated waves.^^
Also that you can remove hearts and put them on another characters is a really nice feature. It really adds to the game and to his uniqueness. It let me take from the archer to help the knight when I needed it.

As for the graphics, I really dig your art direction. Nice designs and animations.

The sound effects and the music go well with the game.

Great job guys! :)
