Fight For Your Light by Raivk

FIGHT FOR YOUR LIGHT
You are the last defender of your realm of light. Even if your masters left the world a long time ago, you're still defending this last light core. You hear echoes in the distance... The abyss is coming to take away the last glimpse of light.
You have a single resource, your light. It's your power, your health, everything. The three generators in this world will supply you with some light at the end of each assault from the abyss. You must keep them working. The core at the center of the world will be useful to sacrifice some of your light. Here you can repair / upgrade the generators. You can also forge new runes used to cast powerful spells. Or you can sacrifice your powerful spells to retrieve some light, in case you're running low...
CONTROLS - IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ -
You're a powerfull automatic rune caster. You move by hovering over the ground (ZQSD / WASD), you have a boost with Left Shift, you can jump with Spacebar, you can lock yourself in the air with Left CTRL, Left Click to use your left rune, Right Click to use your right rune (you can activate both runes by pressing Left Click and Right Click at the same time).
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The camera sensibility in game might be too high for some people, don't hesitate to lower your mouse sensibility in your computer parameters if you prefer low sensibility. Sorry for the inconvenience ! Next ludum dare we'll be sure to add a sensibility parameter in our game !
COMBAT
You have a rotating wheel of four runes. Each time you use a rune, the wheel turns by 90 degrees. Choose wisely how you place your spells on the wheel, as it will greatly change your ability to fight. While locked in the air, you will have a greater accuracy, and your runes will cast faster. However, the enemies will be much more accurate towards you.

V1.1 - QUICK FIX
- Fix the annoying camera jitter when turning fast
- Fix the camera movement smoothing being way too high (forgot a comma... the smoothing was set to 01 seconds instead of 0.1...)

Were you playing on mac / linux ? If yes it might be a bug related to these port of the game... We have no linux / mac with us to test it
The controls would feel way better if I had full control over the camera.
Yes the controls are... Kinda floaty :s we tried to make something new, but it still was fun to make so.. we're happy with it ! Experiments with new player controllers are always cool :)
But anyway, next time if we make a game shoot-oriented, we will be sure to avoid floaty controls !
The problem you had with movement speed might be related to the run feature. Were you holding the shift key to boost ? You can go as much as 3 times faster while holding shift ;)
Yep the camera controls are.. weird. We spent a lot of time trying to make them better, but had a hard time... We might need a more tight camera with simpler movement.
Anyway, thanks for the valuable feedback, it means a lot for us, and we learn so much from everyone here :D
I felt pretty weak though which is why I stopped playing. My damage felt too low, my character too slow and the enemies too hard to hit and too strong, especially for the beginning.
I like the concept of the rune rotation combat mechanic. Lots of potential there. I wish I could have unlocked the spells more quickly so I could experience what you did with this mechanic.
I feel like there's no reason for a smart camera here. Simple, direct 3rd-person camera control without any blending or automatic adjustments would have done the trick just fine. Right now it was really difficult to aim which reduced my enjoyment of the gameplay.
Overall good job, especially on the audiovisual side. The rotating combat mechanic should be explored more.
Also, I would avoid too much text in menus, it's not really appealing !
Overall, I liked the concept of a light that is everything (your health, you money, ...) and, once again, I loved the graphics and music
Overall a very nice spin on the theme and a fun game.
Other than the controls(mostly aiming) its beautiful, atmospheric, cohesive.... If I could aim I would spend a lot more time in this little world... Well Done!
@acuriosity we're glad you liked the movement (after a some adaptation time indeed), and sorry for the inconveniance on aiming ! It's quite sensible..! And yes the combat is meant to be done in turret mode with the left CTRL key ;) you lock yourself in a sweet spot, you aim more precisely + you get a much greater fire rate ;)
Thanks for the kind comments on graphics and sound ! We spent a lot of time on this and we're super happy that people enjoy it !
