(MAAB) Mistakes Are Actually Bad by dimaswift

[raw]
made by dimaswift for LD 40 (COMPO)

The game is about 2 guys cutting stuff with a laser. You can play with your homie, should be funnier. Too bad I didn't have enough time to make some decent level. But laser cutting thing looks cool though. I also just remembered that there are no sounds. Controls: WSAD for one, and arrows for another. https://youtu.be/L2MNEp-gSV4

Thats some really cool physics there!
I need to find a buddy to play this with, but it was ncie to cut everything anyway.
Being ambidextrous works for me :p (forever alone)

The models for the ships and the characters are really excellent, as is the slicing mechanic. I'm not sure what it has to do with the theme, though?

Nice game, beautiful graphics =D Too bad the nice dual cutting mecanism isn't used to restrain movements and put some puzzly-challengy elements in there (and aiming us toward the level end). Could have used a very enjoyable cutting sound too ^^'

Anyway, have some hearts too =)

Wow, this is a very cool idea! I'll have to see if I can return to it with a second person, for now I only played it alone two-handed.

It looks super-slick, very impressive. The mechanic is a new idea I enjoyed exploring. It looked really nice when I sliced something off. In the part I saw, it seemed like if I could move past something to get on both sides to slice it, then I didn't need to slice it because I could just move past it the same way with both guys... but then I didn't get super-far. My furthest run I got to the point where the bottom floor takes a plunge downward and didn't last much past that.

If I could change one thing I would make the restart happen faster and via keyboard command. With two hands on the keyboard, it was a friction to have to reach over for the mouse every time I made a mistake, and o/c that friction hits me at the downbeat of having just died.

This was an awesome little core: a novel idea with a slick look and tight controls. Well done!

Extremely cool slicing mechanic! Very great job on the game overall. The graphics were amazing and the physics were awesome! Just a quick question, how did you do the slicing? Seems really hard :P, also what game engine were you using? Just curious. Overall a great entry!

Nice graphics! I love the character animations when you move around the platforms.

It was more fun to cut stuff than it was trying to reach the end.

@thegamer1123211 I was using Unity 2017.2. Slicing is all about trigonometry and math:) It was pretty challenging to make it right and didn't leave me time to make some cool levels, but I hope to finish it someday. It was my first Ludum Dare, very poor time management.

As funny and weird this game is, it's cool, fun and innovative. For only 48 hours, you've done a great job!

The visual effects are extremely cool. The laser, the sparks, the partial cut, and the molten rock that cools quickly all made cutting very satisfying.

I played solo but was still able to control both ships without too much trouble by moving slowly. I didn't see any obvious objective so I just cut rocks at random. Some of the map boundaries look like shadows which caused a couple deaths..

Are the people and ships meant to look like Lego?

I also don't really know how the theme fits in. My guess was that it was trying to say that the more rocks you cut the more crowded the bottom area gets, or maybe something bad happens if you cut too much.

@almost Thanks for the feedback! I didn't manage to do what I had planned for, very poor time management since that was my first Ludum Dare. I was going to make puzzles like the more rocks you have around the harder it is to proceed, so you have to find a way to cut them out first, and then find a way out.
About the people on the ship - I didn't mean to make them look like lego, I was just using MagicaVoxel for modeling :) Although I have realized that they look familiar...

What a spectacular game! I must admit I could only play it with my own sorry self, so it was a bit difficult at times, but I still had a lot of fun. Also, nice to see a fellow voxel artist here!
I wish you best of luck on this LD.
