Steven's Journey by Engyne

[raw]
made by Engyne for LD 43 (JAM)

Follow Steven’s gentle voyage through colour and sound. Despite a broken wing, he has been given a new way to migrate. Guide his adventure through land, sky, and seascapes as he floats towards his family. This game features a two-tier procedural original soundtrack that evolves based on Steven's altitude.

Created over 48 hours during the Ljubljana Ludum Dare Game Jam 2018.

I really liked the music, sound effects and the art! Looks pretty neat and polished for a 48-hour game jam game, good job! :blue_heart:

Looks and sounds very great, good job! Only thing that disappointed me is pretty slow gameplay, and I didn't fully understand what was sacrificed)

Would be fun for young kids, especially on tablet of phone. Definitely rough on the wrist though.

I love the art style and music, especially considering the 48-hour time constraint! I'm not sure I played it correctly, however. My technique was to use lots of small swipes to move the balloon, I couldn't figure out if there is a more efficient way of floating across the screen.

I really liked the art and music. However, I don't really understand how this game fits the theme

Music, sound effects and art are amazing! It's a little awkward to play the web version and i didn't understand the sacrifice content too. Overall I had fun! :hearts:

So visually nice, and the music is great. The gameplay is a bit rough though, however still really nice.

Looks and sounds great but I don't think it uses the theme at all. Also the controls in the browser version are kind of annoying.

Sounds and looks really good! But like others said, browser controls are way too slow. My finger already hurts from trying to push him past the first cloud. You could probably fix it by just making him move a lot more in browser version.

Art and the ambient are amazing, well done! But like others pointed out, controls doesn't work well. Why not following a mouse cursor while holding down left button?

Well deserved, so far this is one of the games with the best visuals and mood!

Mouse operation is a little difficult, but the art is good~
It's very suitable for playing on mobile phones.

What a beautiful game! I'm quite literally stunned by the art and the (procedural!) soundtrack you guys made as a team! Wow! Now, I must say I'm a real sucker for audio-visual kick-back-and-chill experiences, so this was right up my alley. The one gripe I had with this game was that the mechanic, while probably being fine on mobile, can be quite tiring for your hand when using a mouse! It might also add some more depth if there were more (dangerous) things to avoid or spectacular things to see in the sky. Anyway, you guys did a really good job and you should all be proud :D

Ps. Of course, this should be my favorite game, since my name is Steven ;)

You should really change the mouse control, it is a pain... Which is a shame because the game looks and feel is pretty awesome. Juste hold the mouse button and make the baloon follow like Blodyavenger said, that will do ;-)

This a super cute game, with some amazing music. The only bad things for me is that the movement speed is much too slow, and the bombing sound when flying into a cloud is not the best. But overall a very relaxed and good LD game. Well done!

love the art and sound design. but I do not think it respects the theme. Really cool sound when you hit a cloud ^^

amazing job with the graphics, the sounds and music where really good, the theme was not there, but as a game it would work on mobile devices, it could be added items to collect or some sort of goal, it felt like an endless game.
