Sad Knight

Description:

I liked the idea of not having arms hahaha really fun game!

This is (almost) a really good game overall. The mood, visuals and audio all work together and the sword-swinging feels incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately turning around the character is too fast to be able to control accurately and it makes the game too frustrating to be fun. It's a really minor detail, but it completely overshadows all the positive aspects of the game (and there are a lot of those).

hey @banan the rotation is fast so you can rotate while attacking to swing your sword and kill multiple enemies, you don't need to really aim much.

i think controls has to be not from character but from screen. but liked gameplay and graphics.

That was awesome! The controls could use some work (especially for laptop players), but the combat was fun.

Very nice game! Swinging the sword was very satisfying, although doing a 360 degree swing felt a little bit op. The Music, sound and art worked well together and it got harder and harder the further in the game you got which was nice.

Altogether a very solid game.

The mac build is just a empty folder. I will try it out when you fix it.

Awesome execution, cute and funny graphics, Great concept of the random potions!
But the controls were a little annoying

Nice polish on this entry and I love the music. I'm not a fan of the tank controls though so it wasn't as fun as it could have, but the poison system was a pretty interesting concept. The screenshake feels a little excessive. Fonts are pretty but a little hard to read.

Graphics were very nice but the point where this stands out is definitely audio. Best sound and music design I've seen so far. there weren't too many mechanics to defeat the skeletons though, would have been nice with some extra. Definitely a good effort.

Really clean game. I love the art style and the mood.
The combat is a bit simplistic (best strategy seems to just spin and attack constantly) but still precise and responsive.
Very cool

@quaternius thanks for the fix! You made an awesome game with a great concept, would love to see more of this. But the controls are a litte bit sluggish at times, I would prefer attacking in the direction of the mouse cursor.

I really like the skeleton's poping. I'm such a bad knight, the king didn't live anymore.
A very good concept with the potion choice. Very fun!

The linux download is an 0-byte sized file. Sad! Looking forward to it when the download is fixed.

Controls are a little tough to get use to, but the music and sound is very nice. Graphics are also well suited and fun. If the powerups did more it might of been more useful too. All up pretty decent.

Fun game, stacking the stuff is a lot of fun! but the controls are really weird! it feels like driving a car more than a person

Damn, I almost survived 8 waves. I feel the movement of the character needs some work, maybe a different moving mechanic. Otherwise, the looks and audio are really nice. Love the polish and the little skeleton death animations.

I survived 8 waves by just sitting next to the king. Too afraid to go after potions

Took a while to get used to the controls, but after that it was great!

This is really cool! There is a lot of polish here for a compo game. I though the movement was a little weird, the guy controlled kind of like a car lol. Overall one of the best games I've seen so far in LD40!

**Pros:** Addicting gameplay, cool powerups (powerdowns), polished graphics, matching music and sounds.

**Cons:** Not very player-friendly controls; using the mouse to look around and change movement direction would have been much better.

Nearly perfect - high quality, good polish and solid and entertaining gameplay. Wasn't expecting anything short of amazing from you, good job! Change the controls though.

That was fun! I like the spinning tip, I will try that, it took me a bit of thought to use the turning control. Music is great. The action is compelling! The poison choice was hard and I couldn't choose and had random assignment but with more play I can see developing a preference.

This is one of the most fun games I've played so far and definitely one of my highest rated across the board. Great job on sfx and setting the mood. The variety of potions is impressive for a compo. Well done!

Nice concept! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2J0D0dmydc
