//README//

ScreenShot0.png

The core objective (at least at the start of the game) is to collect all CHARGES scattered around the planet, avoiding being spotted by patrolling enemies. Stay out of enemy lines of sight and you should be well on your way, remember you are very fragile in comparison to them. Once you collected enough charges to fill up your OVERCHARGE meter (blue meter) your stats will be boosted overwhelmingly, and so will be the amount of enemies bullets coming your way.

ScreenShot6.png

//Important Notes to Keep in Mind// - You can (and should) use your projectiles to propel you forward (as a form of rocket-jump) for maximum mobility. - The WHITE meter over your head is your health, the BLUE is your overcharge. - You can MELEE enemies while they are not looking at you for an instant stealthy kill.

OVERCHARGED stats: - 4x Damage. - 0.1x Damage Taken. - 2x Projectile Blast Radius. - 2x Projectile Blast Force. - 1.5x Projectile Speed. - 1.5x Melee Range.

//Controls// - use WASD to walk around the planet. - SPACE = jump. - MOUSE1 to shoot. - MOUSE2 or LSHIFT to MELEE.

The macOS build leads to the Windows Build. Game looks cool though so @ me when I can play

Game got really fun when I figured out about the rocket jumping, I feel like it should have some sort of radial/explosion effect to let you know what's going on

i like how it's broken up very different gameplay sequences but the map feels the same. rocket jumping around to move while fighting the flying enemies was super fun

great job with this!

This game would benefit greatly from sound fx and possibly some light music. The gameplay was fun and inuitive if you read the directions. I experienced some light physics bugs but overall a very solidly built game

The controls feel very clunky, even with "bullet jumping". The game feels distinctly broken into two parts -- stealth and bullet hell -- not a combination of the two. And stealth is lacking, as the enemies don't react to anything player does, so you can snipe them from the distance, or jump on to of them and perform a melee kill and they would just act like nothing is happening.

It's very pretty, though.

@apple-dash i'm completely aware, that's exactly the aspect that i tried to optimize up until an hour before. i appreciate the feedback a lot!

The Visuals are pretty good and spamming bullets and watching things blow up was entertaining. The main weaknesses of the game were the controls and the platforming/ collision inconsistency. I feel like the jump height was inconsistent and I would randomly jump when hitting certain platforms. Also effects would make the game way better especially considering all of the cool visual effects.

Wish I had read the instructions -- it didn't even occur to me I could just use WASD to move instead of the rockets. Really fun!

Really nice looking game, and the sudden shift in gameplay when you get overcharge is really cool too.

I did find the movement a bit awkward at first, but it isn't too hard to get used to after a while.

Anyway awesome work!

So fun! as mentioned above the planet style works really well here, the mechanic feels new yet easily understandable and blasting those enemies (and yourself) away to KA-BOOM-BAH! land is very satisfying, lots of potential here.

Wow what a fun game to play! :smile:
I really liked the shooting and fighting of the game.
The rocket jumping was a bit confusing in the start. I expected it to be jumping when i shot a bullet. Not when it hit the ground. The graphics are simple but really well done, one of the best parts of your game. I really miss some sound effects on the shooting and hitting on enemies. I don't really see the stealth and the theme in the game. :fox:

Very pleasant game to play, to rocket jump coupled with the ability to make bullets rain is very satisfying !
The only cons I can think of is that the "stealh" part of the game almost feel non-existant

Thanks a ton for the quality feedback, it does help a lot. i'm glad a lot of you seem to like the aesthetics. i'll definitely experiment further with the Shader work i did during the weekend, it all indeed boils down to filters and faces. Additionally, i'm specially glad that you also seem to like the core mechanics. I'll do a blog post addressing the inconsistencies and discrepancies with the controls that annoyed so many of you (and definitely rightfully so) plus the several aspects where the game lacked substantially. o/

You should probably add a way to quit when the game is full screen. I had to task manager close the game.

Otherwise pretty and pretty solid, if a little clunky on the movement as others have mentioned. Really dig the aesthetic.

Fun game!
Started very slowly and easy, and then the bullet-hell aspect of the game hit! The switch surprised me (in a positive way).
Some music and sound effects would have been nice.
Nice entry!

(forgot to mention in my previous comment)

When I touched the final blue charge, it didn't disappear;
it triggered the switch to the next phase though, so technically I picked it up.

Just thought I should mention this.

I played your game and enjoyed it, I think it could benefit a ton from a score/kill counter though. Here's a break down of my views on it:

# Pros:

* core gameplay is fun
* satisfying screen shake
* planet shaped terrain gives it a cool little twist

# Cons:

* Janky physics, please please work on the collisions and the player movement
* Particle effects dissapeared too abruptly, they should fade or shrink or something
* Poor implementation of stealth

Either way, awesome job for completing the game for LD, that's more than most people can say ;) Also I really appreciate the massive amount of games you've played and rated!

Loving the minimal graphics and I think that with a little more polish this could make a solid commercial game. I personally found the physics to be pretty good - it's always tricky to get it realistic but playable when you're working with radial gravity, so my hat is off to you for pulling this off. Great work.

@technonugget @darby-costello I appreciate it man, and you know? these comments in particular have somewhat convinced me to improve upon this game and make it into a complete experience. i like to think of it as a "minimum viable product" (emphasis on the minimum). as soon as i finish my exams i will start working on it fixing all of the issues and materializing all of the suggestions and feedback, perhaps i may add a "Post-Jam" link to the page if any of you like the idea

Interesting game, I like the overall feel, and especially how you can "Scorched Earth" the projectiles. I'm not quite sure how this fit the theme, but I agree that it could be a solid commercial game!

Interesting game, but I found the physics very insane.

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.
