Cursed by Kerr

[raw]
made by Kerr for LD 40 (JAM)

Jump your way through the dungeon to collect the cursed gems. Make your opponent drop gems by jumping on their heads. Whomever has the most gems when the time runs out wins. Careful! Each gem collected hinders your movement.!

  • Developer Note: There's no delay on the score screen, so any button pressed at the end of the round will skip the scoring screen  (Whoops!)

The way they jump made me laugh aloud :) Very fun game! Reminiscent of Towerfall

great job the only think i saw that could be improved was the climbing walls animation, make it less like rolling up walls

Great game. The controls felt weird, but I think that was intentional. Certainly has a learning curve.

Beautiful game, the graphics were wonderful and the sounds were really fun! The movement and jumps felt a bit awkward though. Not the bit with the gems hindering movement, I just didn't feel like I *knew* where my feet were a lot of the time and it made the platforming a bit awkward.

Loved the art and the way you jump! Interesting mechanics with the switched and walljumping as well. More levels and a better AI to battle with would have made this a near-perfect game, but I understand the time restraints make those kinds of things unnecessary. Good work, maybe keep working on this!?

Beautiful game with great sounds! Took a little to get used to the controls, but really enjoyed the gameplay. Nice work.

Game looks fantastic! I do experience some trouble with the controls though. It feels like the character should be able to jump much higher.

Really cool to play but, it could be nice to have a arrow way to control the player for non-qwerty keyboard. the graphics are awesome

@juliensnz Thank you! Our artist worked really hard on the graphics while we kept trying to figure out what we wanted to do. It was no easy task, to be sure. And you're right about the arrow keys, I totally forgot to hook them up to the character controller.
@romain-navazo You can walljump :) Maybe I should add that note to the controls section though... Thanks for the feedback!

I like the mechanic here. A lot of jumping off the walls and such keeps the pace up. I think this would make for a great multiplayer party page.

Looks great! Fun to play, gonna try the multiplayer when I can use my pc later!

Very pretty game and enjoyable soundtrack. I liked the gameplay up to a certain point where my character was immobile. Not sure if this is meant to be a feature, but I started each new match with the number of gems I finished the previous match with. I tried playing multiple rounds against the AI and my character was completely immobile by the third round, so the game was basically unplayable.

I didn't quite get it at first, but I figured it out over time. The cpu is a bit silly and its a bit difficult to jump. Interseting idea and nice visuals though.

oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have also a page there? This looks great! I looked for the games that used the #LDJAM but I don't find yours. So good luck!! I will hope to make a video about it!

Fun little game with some cool retro-inspired music. Not sure how it works with the theme though? Solid entry though so good job :)

It's currently unplayable on the web version - it gets to the point where 1 second takes about 4 seconds.

@Cubeeo That's very odd. Just tested in on several machines here and all seemed to run it OK. What browser were you running it in?

Fun game with beautiful graphics and great 8-bit sounding music and sound effects. It took me a while to realize that you could wall-jump but otherwise a fun little game. I did the 1-vs-AI but I can definitely see where playing with friends in multiplayer could be a lot of fun. Great job guys! :)

The art is really nice! I really do like the little lighting effects and animations.

The controls are, in my opinion, not precise enough. They feel floaty and the jump height is so small from the very get-go that it feels somewhat frustrating to move around. Luckily the game has walljumping to alleviate that.

The web version worked fine with me on Firefox. In any case, it's a good entry. Well done!

The movement is very floaty and characters seems to slide on for a while. Sadly the AI seemed to just get killed or get stuck in an area (web version). Nice visual style and good sound vibe.

Wow, that is just gorgeous. The rolling up the walls is a strange mechanic but surprisingly effective! Unfortunately the AI opponent was absolutely hopeless, so I'm not sure I really got a good sense of what the game would be like with multiple players.
