Sores by bradleysmith

[raw]
made by bradleysmith for LD 40 (COMPO)

scrn-2.png

I'm an Illustrator learning code so there's little to no gameplay. I apologise.

This prototype was also built for Games For The Many a political game jam backed by the Labour party.

PROTOTYPE DESCRIPTION

  • Sores is an experimental game about the lengths people go to just to survive.
  • Inspired by real events, Sores attempts to illustrate the brutal nature of how extreme the class gap can be in today's society.

HOW TO PLAY

Click on your infected sores to pop them and your pennies will increase. Pop enough within the day and you get to survive another day - joy!

If you leave your sores for too long, the worse it is and that's game over for you! See you in the next life.

Try not to get pissed on!

The hitbox of the pimples could have been a little bigger.

Nice art setting the general mood. The game feels very polished. Continue learning to code, hoping to see more from this!

Well, that was depressing. Very dark and disturbing game. It was really great though, don't get me wrong.
I agree that the hitbox should be larger on the sores.

This is so sad... Well done, especially the graphics (of course), but also the idea.

I didn't really understand the game and sometimes I clicked on the pimple and nothing happened.

Well, that was something different. I'm pretty sure I won't forget this game very easily. The art was wonderful and the idea unique. Wonderful job!

I'm sad to say, it is not a depression game. In contrast, it is a relaxing game and will let the player laugh on the poor man instead of compassion. Why? The **presentation** of this game may be about a poor's life, but the very **essence** of this game is nothing more than **Click the red spots and get money**. That did be an addictive game, but will never made the player depressed.

To make a really depression game, you should try the art of frustrating players without scare them out. Maybe let the black figures blocks the player more often?

Anyway, I liked your drawing

You may take a look at Japanese visual novels and galgames. They are masters in depressing storytelling within games.

Poignant intro set the mood but the game was kinda of sadly silly. Kinda confusing emotionally but very interesting. Great job on the art and wind sounds.

loved the art and overall presentation! The intro transition is really cool. Also there is a good mood set up. Unfortunately the gameplay kinda ruins it for me and I don't think it quite fits the theme. Good work!
