PhotoSheep by JakNak72

[raw]
made by JakNak72 for LD 43 (COMPO)

Sacrifices must be made so i decided to sacrifice the game engine and use Photoshop to run my code.

It was an experiment to see how far i can get with using only Photoshop as I never used Photoshop scripting or even JavaScript before.

Sorry that you need Photoshop to run the game.

By far the most original game I've played.

A bold, but innovative idea! ^_^ A very different kind of sacrifice.

I won! Well, that is *not* a platform I ever expected to be playing a game in! 5 stars for innovation! =)

**The Good:**
Very innovative, I've never seen anything like this before.

**Needs Work:**
Pretty much everything else. The graphics are pretty rough, especially for Photoshop.

Bank on the innovation, I think your game can really score high in that category.

I did not rate this game because I don't have photoshop so I can't play it, but this has to be the most creative use of the theme I have seen so far!

This looks so goofy, but I don't have photoshop. This game shows that even if we have to work with just folders for our game, we would make something.

Sadly I am not able to play the game, but I love the idea. This game somehow reminded me of the fist I ever made. It was in the middle of 90's, I did not know anything about game development or programming, and I did not have aces to the internet. Somehow I saw some HTML scripting, and I learn to make buttons that could change page, and learn how to put a picture on the page. So with this very limited knowledge I made a super simple little adventure game. It was a pretty bad game, but I liked it because it was my game.

Thanks for all the awesome feedback! It's good to see people like my idea :D
@amastryukov The graphics are that goofy intentionaly because it was too obvious to make them look good in photoshop. I guess i'm gonna get some bad praphics scores now but it doesn't matter that much as long as people still have fun playing :)

This is the coolest game I've seen all day. Since it was in Photoshop, I decided to use my Graphics Tablet that I use with Photoshop to play the game. It was a really funny game, both in concept and gameplay. I didn't find the game very challenging, but that did not make the game boring. Graphics could use some work, but I understand that when you're trying to create a game in Photoshop you are probably more worried about how to make the game run rather than making graphics. Awesome job!

PS: if you are wondering, it works on Photoshop CS5.

Positives
- Excellent demonstration of thinking outside of the box here.
- Great narrative and choices
- Funny and dynamic storylines such as the dragon popping out of nowhere
- I can see this as having potential as a full-fledged game

Improvements
- Could have clearer instructions e.g. "view/File on Screen" was a bit weird.
- Could have instructions to reset game (although in defence, if someone did get to that stage, it was fairly
intuitive)
- Could have had a longer storyline

Overall
- This has a lot of potential, and of course you used something new so there's not much to
criticise here apart from stating the obvious such as audio, graphics, mechanics etc.
- Overall, great game and very funny, but could have been longer.

Great stuff, keep it up!

So cool that you made a game in Photoshop, also I really like the name "PhotoSheep" :). I played through the game a few times because I wanted to see all the different outcomes. I would have really liked to see more player choice in the game and it possibly lead to different outcomes. Obviously that would take much more time, but I thought your general idea was really good. Congratulations on making such a unique game in 48 hours!

The accomplishment here has to be admired, it was pretty simple to get the game going, it's unfortunate that so few people are able to play it.
It's pretty funny and I now have more confidence in my own photoshop skill but it is too short with no replayability.

Never seen anyone build a game LD in photoshop. Definitely the most innovative.

I had no idea you could script games in Photoshop, very impressive! I found it funny that you could compliment the sheep's ears even though it has no ears. Congrats on the Innovation win.

Nice result! I am proud to have contributed to this game winning "innovation" even if for a silly reason ;).
