Shape-Shifto: The Reckoning by MeritLeave
Experience the explosive new art game that critics are calling "AN EMOTIONAL TOUR DE FORCE".
In this collective spiritual successor to Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and the legendary Chrono Trigger, will you shapeshift to defeat the single enemy in a perfectly square room... or die trying?
Yeah I ran out of time on this one, sadly. First time ever sitting down to make a game, so it went about as hilariously as you could imagine. Submitting what I got done for posterity!
Dude can absorb purple shots; bird can absorb orange shots. Absorb 10 shots to regain 1 HP. Bird can only shoot in mid-air, and with less range, but can jump a lot higher and quicker!
I plan to continue working on this entry, in the hopes of eventually turning it into an actual game based around the idea of a single lengthy boss that shapeshifts into various forms as it takes damage, getting increasingly grotesque. That was the idea I originally had for this. Then it just kind of turned into Shoot an Evil Box.

I came up with a similar idea, a big shape shifting boss.
I'd like to see the finished version if you ever complete it. :)
I had a huge grin when I saw the boss. It just made me so happy. What it did when I died made me happy. Everything about it made me happy. Placeholder/programmer art can be pretty charming ;)
Your titlescreen is a masterpiece.
Thank you for sharing this, and I hope you have fun continuing work on it :)
