No Castle No Title by Sugiuro

[raw]
made by Sugiuro for LD 39 (JAM)

Game made with @Cosmos, @yzarcy and @TearBOT

We're all students in 2nd year of informatics. This is the 2nd LD for me, and the 1st for my mates.

No Castle No Title is a survival game where you must survive against waves of enemies. You must also keep an eye on your power : when the power bar is empty, you lose ! To maintain your power, you must collect energy orbs, dropped by enemies or by the fountain.

yzarcy: "best game"

The game was made using C++ and SFML.

Tried the lunatic difficulty. No regrets.
The controls for shooting were a little counter-intuitive. Perhaps just having one button to shoot with, and have the projectile travel in the direction the player is facing.
Best of luck :)

Generally fun as a small aracde game, the graphics and sounds leave a bit to be desired, but overall a great job. After playing the binding of Isaac for so long, I really struggled getting to grips with having shooting on WASD and movement on the arrow keys instead of vise visa like the TBOI, however I eventually got used to it and it allowed me to enjoy the game to the full potential.

Overall is good. Perhaps next time you make use of the mouse to target the enemy instead of using the WASD key as it seems very difficult to aim.

@jajo Thanks for the feedback ! About the controls, I think doing 4 keys for firing in all directions allows the player to fire left while moving right for example, like in Binding Of Isaac.

@Whiteninja What is the problem on your PC ? We may have failed the deployment because of our inexperience : this is the first time we try to deploy a graphic application for other people than ourselves. We're sorry to know that it doesn't work for you, but if you tell us the problem, we'll try to fix it asap !

@roka-josh We should've used the same commands as TBOI, it was a mistake to not do so :/

@e-jp We first wanted to local multiplayer, so we put full-keyboard commands, that's why we didn't use the mouse ^^ But yeah, that may have been a better option for the LD version

funny but ye, I won't add more than the others. I have a question, what engine are you using ?

It's a nice little game. Kinda hard. It was nice character design. Unfortunately I had trouble with shooting and walking at the same time - something about pressing contradictory directions.

Pas mal du tout - pour des gars de chez Epitech :)

Nice little game with a neat aesthetic. I assume that it could be polished and improved with more time, but it is good enough. You should add mouse controls so as to target enemies. Well done ++

The game is nice but needs more polish. One point of improvement could be to enlarge the stage. it is too small and it quickly fills with enemies and bullets.
Also, I suck at this game, the controls are the opposite than in the binding of Isaac and my muscle memory betrays me :joy:

I think first that needs to be done it's change movement to wasd and attack to arrow :D but it's only my point of view.
Second - is balance it. and again, it's only my point of view. :D
Still good work done here. Good Job :)

Is it even possible to win? This was pretty amusing albeit extremely difficult. Nice job, but I think the balance could use some work :P

ps I greatly appreciate the Linux build! Unfortunately I had to dualboot into windows to play everybody else's games, though.

Thanks you all for your feedbacks ! We'll probably change the commands for the shoot/move in a future version
