Minotaur Mania!

Bastard of man and bull, you’ve been exiled to a remote labyrinth in Crete. A freak, a menace, an outcast.

Your appearance may seem bestial, but your heart

...is human.

The Gods have shown mercy, giving you the chance to reclaim your humanity by consuming the sacrifices and heroes tossed before you.

But even more, the chance to reign over the very people that made you an outcast...

How To Play

Keys

  • Arrow keys - Move yourself toward those sacrificed to your labyrinth.
  • Z - Swing your giant frickin' axe at 'em.

NOTE: A and B are Z and X on the keyboard!

Goal

  • Consume all the sacrifices sent into your labyrinth before they escape!

I was so ready to be sitting here for hours playing this game, but was dissapointed to see only one level! Short and sweet, a great game!

Congratulations, well done!
You have created a cool mood for the narrative.

@mortifix thanks! we had plans for more, and the systems in place to do it, but ran out of time. We'll probably get a non-jam version up soon.

Cool game. The human moment seemed random and the game controlled great, not sure if I got more time each kill I got but would definitely be a game id like to see get more levels. Awesome art as well!

@block97 Thanks! The movement of the sacrifices was definitely something we spent some time on. Glad it was noticed :D

@wojciech @kaish Thanks a lot!

Cool game. I liked the time pressure, but I didn't notice it until the very end. Anything you could do about it?

A good idea, a good game, but I think there should be something more... random? I dunno, like random number of sacrifices, random speed of humans... random map? the game is pretty cool right now, and it can get better, be sure of it.

@flashviper thanks for the suggestion. We'll be putting up a non-jam version of the game with all the stuff we couldn't get done in time soon I'll make sure this gets included.

@master-gig we actually started the jam with the intent to randomly generate levels like you describe, but ultimately had to settle for just one. Proud of the team for making the pivot and getting the thing finished in time. We're going to keep at it and put up a non-jam version with some cool features soon. Thanks very much for taking the time to play!

Nice game! It's clear a lot of work went into it even with just this one level, and I'd love to see what you guys can do with it outside of the jam's time constraints. Great work :)

@potatoez sorry to hear that! We went back and forth on whether to call the buttons A and B or Z and X and my aspirations of mobile compatibility landed us on A and B... Then mobile never happened because time. So it goes, first time for everything, etc, we'll surely do better next time :)

Great intro and story. It really sets the mood for the game. The retro style and music were nice, and it was cool that the entire game is being played on an old PC. I think it would be great to add a few more levels.

@ropedog thanks! we'll definitely be adding features to a non-jam version of the game soon. Our first time working under the time-constraints of the jam made for some serious feature-cutting decisions. Thanks for taking the time to play and rate :D

This is the first Minotaur-themed game I've seen on the jam, nice to see someone referencing the myth.

Good work guys. Like to see Ludum Dare games made by teams. Love the music and retro visual presentation. Took me back to the ol' Atari days. And I like that it was a quick playthrough, usually that's what I'm looking for with Ludum Dare games. There could have been some more levels, but hey it's a complete game loop.

@johnsensei thanks for playing! We had plans for so much more, including randomly generated levels, powerups, etc but had to cut it down to the essentials to make the deadline. I'm really proud of the team for doing what had to be done to have something to submit, and very much appreciate that you noticed. Thanks again!

Nice Game! Unfortunately my audio isn't working (I didn't rate audio or mood), but the rest of the game was very enjoyable! The graphics were charming and I think the gameplay is a really strong concept! I would love to see some more content in this game. Well done!
