Midori has a cold! by derr

[raw]
made by derr for LD 40 (JAM)

This game was created for Ludum Dare 40.

Midori has a cold! Help her get better so she can play outside with her friends.

In this game you indirectly help her immune system fight off bacteria. The game is inspired by a very obscure DOS game I loved as a kid called PC-Bakterien.

Controls Hint

You can rotate arrows by right clicking. I should have made that more obvious...

I really really liked this game. (Though I failed pretty hardcore on the first challenge stage. I'll try again later.)

The DOS-style aesthetic and music were nice. Only issue I ran into was the need for an alternative way to switch inventory. (I couldn't find one anyway) Some of my pointing devices don't have scroll wheels. Perhaps click on the item box, or with the numeric row keys. The use of the first couple of levels as tutorial were a godsend since I knew I wasn't going to remember all the text instructions.

Hi epb9000 thanks for the hint! That's a really good idea and I think I can patch that in tomorrow! I didn't think of it in the flurry of the jam. :D

A very fun game with a really cool idea behind it! Loved the funky music & the great art style. I found the gameplay a little awkward in places (things like only being able to rotate once placed) but it never became such an issue that I wasn't having fun. As a whole I really like this entry and would love to see it continued on!

I appreciate how cute this game is, but you've also made the effort to put in an alarming amount of content here! That's an impressive amount of levels for a Dare game, so good work! I did find a bit of a difficulty spike on the level "First Challenge" but otherwise I had a great time with this game!

I didnt' quite get what I had to do.

But the game looks polished and well made.

This was a fun game and I enjoyed playing it. I managed to reach "The first challenge" level and gave up because I found it too difficult, but there is nothing wrong with a difficult game. I liked the new items that were introduced as the game progressed, although I didn't know what some of them were. The visuals, music and sound were great, and the game mechanics were easy to understand because of the helpful tutorial at the start.

Great entry!

What an interesting game, I really loved the concept this is a very well developed idea, I also love the art it is so cute xD, the animations are pretty good also, the music is pretty cool and fits the theme, I really liked. One thing that I found very cool was that old pc game vibe, I really felt like I was in my PC in the 90s playing a game from that time, great experience, the gameplay is fun and I do believe that this game has some real potential, I'd love to see more of this, great team work, incredibly well done, congratulations !

That's a cute game! Aaand i failed at the first challenge level. Didn't figure out the moving logic of the creatures, may take a little time to understand. But overall, cool game!

I think a helpful addition to this game would be a restart button for when you screw up. Otherwise, it's a very cute game that I wouldn't mind spending some more time with. Nice work!

I really enjoyed the game! I liked the music and was surprised that you didn't put yourself in to be graded for the music as well, unless that person you credited did not work with you. Either way this game was fun and cute!

Cool puzzle game, that's an intyeresting vision of the theme :) I liked the clever concept and mechanics, cool music and good-looking aesthetics. I'm not super good at puzzlegames, but I sometimes felt like randomness was screwing some of my games ; maybe the game is just too fast for me but I felt like the paralyzing rabbit-thingy stuffs were very hard to control accurately, and the random direction of arrows makes it a little bit much complicated when you have to go fast. I struggled to beat level 3 before I gave up but smart a cool game ! Cheers !
