Goblin Quest by Pellanor
Do Quest! Slay Goblins! Save The Town! And Die Doing It!
Only my second game jam with Unity. This one focused on content and having a complete game that's actually somewhat fun.
Gameplay was inspired by Reigns, with a simple swipe left / right flavor. Everybody I was going to work with got sick, so the UI isn't nearly as pretty as it would have been with actual front end people. Which is to say, it's pretty ugly.
I think I've got all the dead ends out of the game, so please let me know if you find any.
And no, I have not actually watched or read Goblin Slayer.

Got to level 130 but no way to confront... as i understand it if i die the amulet will give next adventurer higher level. but i died too fast on the second try and only give 1 to the next one...
The mountains are always a threat. Ensures you always have a way to die if you need to.
Level 130 is crazy! Need to go through with different traits to find all the clues. Unfortunately I didn't put in a UI for tracking them :'(
Recovering an amulet gives you 1/2 the xp earned by that hero. If they don't recover an amulet before dying you won't get much when you recover theirs, however all corpses persist so you can eventually get all of them.
Finding a magic weapon that you can use is also important!
I still don't know how you get through the story though. Can you provide a hint?
I thought maybe getting the amulet would provide the hero with the previous one's ability (e.g., so I could then sneak into the Elder's home and read the mystical symbols he has there). Could you please provide a hint? I could look through the source code but I'm afraid of spoilers :)
By the way, I think it's well written, but I noticed two typos in the text:
1. If you’re able to retrive it will grant you a portion of their power!
It should be "If you're able to retrieve it, it will grant you..."
So one "it" is dropped, and "retrieve" is mispelled (I think that was the misspelling I saw, I'm not entirely sure because textedit on mac auto corrected the spelling when I pasted it). This one really confused me - I actually tried to look up the word retrive and eventually I just didn't understand what this was trying to say. It took me a few times to understand I can get the previous hero's power by retrieving the amulet.
2. “You thank hime for the mighty weapon”
(instead of thank him).
Anyway, really nice work, thank you for making the game!
Hints:
* You'll eventually need to get a magic weapon that you can use. The mountains are dangerous, but you can eventually get one if you go there.
* There's a bunch of different clues you have to find. Most of them can be found just by going through all the events. A couple require the Mystical Knowledge trait. One requires skullduggery. Goblin Slay is just for lols. Observant changes a couple events, but isn't required to advance.
* Any clues you earn are saved in the amulets, so make sure you retrieve them when you die.
There is supposed to be a way for you to get mystical knowledge + skullduggery so you can read the books in the elder's home, and there's even an event for doing so, but that feature didn't make the deadline. You can still beat the game without it.
Only real complaint I have is that I died a lot for reasons that aren't really obvious to me. Maybe that's just the intent, but it felt bad when i just died without warning.
Then again, more dead goblins, so still a win?
I played a little while but eventually quitted because I felt I only could go to the mountains, where I died several times by apparently pure bad luck.
This was frustrating
But overall, a very nice story
