Game description

Defend your tiny world against the incoming asteroid storm as long as you can.

Basic block will destroy one incoming threat only but are far cheaper than turrets in ressources. Don't forget you can shoot straight up to help defend and jump around to gather every last bit of ressources.

Have fun!

PS: we will do at least one update to the project in the coming weeks for a post-ludum release. Check out the gamejolt or itch.io page. It will include: - an online leaderboard - another turret - another asteroid type - better difficulty scaling for later waves - some more sound and visual niceties here and there

Controls

  • move: a,d or arrows
  • jump: w or space
  • shoot: j
  • build turret: l
  • build block: k

Full points for graphics, this game is absolutely beautiful! I love the swirling clouds, and the planet design. The effect when the asteroids crash into the planet is a bit underwhelming though. Game was fun and challenging, but would certainly have liked a few more turrets to choose from. It was slightly irritating that I could always see the least directly above me, perhaps a different aspect ratio would have interesting? Also, are the bullets supposed to be firing straight out of my head? Final note -- I think if a rock lands on you, you should be squashed.

Enjoyed it very much overall; fantastic entry.

Great style. Nice audio. Gameplay is fun but too easy if you make enough turrets. After a few waves you have covered your planet and theres not much more to do. Still overall it's an excellent jam game!

I have fun playing this game! :D

This is great! One of the best LDJam games I've played so far :) Similar to what some of the other comments are saying, one thing that would improve it is maybe a boss round or things stronger than asteroids that aren't so easily destroyed by the turrets. Other than that great job!

Very nice graphics. Gameplay is okay, but not much more than a standard planet defence type thing. Could benefit from some turret and enemy variety!

A very pretty little planet defense game. I absolutely love the art style.

I rarely found myself building anything in preparation, which is odd for the type of TD game that it is. I didn't have enough blocks to shield the planet, so it only made sense only to place them when I actually saw an asteroid coming. Is this intentional? Maybe this would have been different if the asteroids would cast shadows on the planet? That way the player would know something is coming from that direction but not how many there are.

Overall, a very pretty game though!

Amazing game I absolutely love it! This is actually one of the best games I played this Ludum Dare (I'm talking top 3). I don't know about some of the comments here I thought it was very good specially considering the time frame. If you decide to extend this project after LD (which you have to, seriously) I would recommend making more turrets and may be upgrades and power ups and more enemies like space ships or something else. I would buy this game when you finish it just tell me when you do. Great job :)

Good graphics, art, sounds, gameplay. But I didn't get reward. I think I played badly.:

Loved it! Definitely in my top 3 of what I have played so far. Excellent work!

If you wouldn’t mind having a quick go of my entry and letting me know what you think I would be grateful. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/space-pow-collins

The game looks great, painting is always a nice break from pixels. Even if you didn't make the sounds, they really helped make the collisions feel impactful.

The start time for the first wave should be a bit longer, so the player can get a feel for what's going on before they're assaulted.

I really liked this one, was fun to play but felt easily exploited and maybe a bit too easy? Very impressive how stable and well it works though for just a few days!

Has to be the one of the best I'v played so far this dare. The graphics and music complimented the game very well which is just icing on the cake. The game itself has a very awesome concept that is executed very well, the gameplay is very fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's so addicting I didn't even want to lose and end the game just to write this. GOOD JOB!

I loved this one! I really wanna keep playing but I have to review more games. It's a great twist on the TD genre. If I had one request is that you make it more clear what your world's health is at. This could possibly make a good phone game imo

Pretty looking game, graphics were great. Nice controls and playability; however, it was a bit easy to just place turrets everywhere and be done with things.

Hope you keep working on it.

I reached the wave 6 ! I had a lot of fun  Graphics are sweet, gameplay is cool. May be you should add a music, it will improve the mood of the game. If you continue to develop the game, may be you could add some new concepts like a big canon.

Just tried your game and I liked it a lot, I hope you'll get more votes
(btw, I just noticed that your game has no thumbnail, you should add one to get more ratings)

Wow the art in your game is absolutely breathtaking. I appreciated the controls on the screen, I found it quite easy to jump in and get playing. I look forward to playing again in your next update - this game is totally worth another iteration, great job!!
