Nice graphics. The music is good as well. It becomes a bit repetitive after some time playing, but good job nonetheless!

Really dig the art style and the minigame style combat. Great job.

The art and illustrations look amazing, as were the class and race designs. But i'm not a fan of timing-based games.

Good
- Graphics
- Class design
- World? (would love to learn more about the worldbuilding)
- High level of polish for a game jam

Could be improved
- Not exactly sure what is being sacrificed here. I do notice that i lose the ability to use one of the characters after each fight, but not sure how that is selected. That makes it hard to strategize
- So are the number of characters basically just the HP? then why do they have individual HP?
- The timing based battle system are too hard as to be frustrating. You also had to do too much of it per battle breaking the immersion from the exploration.
- How do you use the items?

I really liked the art style and the gameplay mechanics were pretty interesting, i didn't really know what i had to do and the overworld part was a little meh, but overall great game.

Love the ambient music, love the gameplay, love world and character graphics.

A bit sad it does not matter to give items to specific character.
Did not understand how to win with Cleric.
I'm having GAME OVER randomly (or i feel it random) with all characters full life.

Not found of minigame based games, but liked this one, kinda RPG "win a short mini game to hit"

Good job !

I think this was one of those situations where you had a decent game, and trying to put the theme into it just kinda ruined it. If there was like, some penalty besides straight death some sort of choice you had to make or something then OK. But instead you play the game by... avoiding playing the game. Despite that the game looks pretty good, especially the panels before the game itself. Sound was fine, but simply killing a player when they want to engage with the game seems... just not enjoyable.

Loved the intro backgrounds images. The minigames are cool, they remind me Undertale's combat system, and the rest of the gameplay seems a bit inspired by Crypt of the Necrodancer. I didn't liked the fact you always lose a character before fighting, it makes the characters lifebars useless. Anyways, I've enjoyed (and ended!) the game :D Good job team!

Holy production value... loved the art style and the amount of work put into it with the cut scenes and different classes/mechanics. I thought the sacrifice mechanic was too punishing since it sacrificed a character as soon as I entered combat. I would've like maybe a risk/reward system. Maybe like if you choose to kill something, then you sacrifice a team member but get some buff. Or maybe you can run away, and protect your team members, but then you get hit with a debuff. The game has great potential, but I didn't feel there was ever a need to enter combat so it became more of a dodging game to reach the boss. Great work though, I look forward to your post-jam version if you guys choose to continue working on it!

Thanks everyone for taking your time to play our game. Indeed we had to make decisions that somehow harmed the original game design idea. We do appreciate all the feedbacks folks!

The graphics and sound were top-notch and I found the mini-games to be an interesting take on RPG combat. Would love to see a RPG with mini-game mechanics like that taken to the next level. My only complaint was the camera being sluggish and zoomed in made it difficult to avoid combats.

It's not really clear ingame that you loose party members for fighting (because it is not shown in the equipment screen). Amazing entry. I especially like the art.

I'm a big fan of the battle system; giving each character a unique minigame is an good twist on the turn-based battle formula. But I agree with previous comments about killing off characters at random. I'd have much preferred having a choice of which character to sacrifice.

I was confused as to why members of my party has Xs on them during combat even though I had never lost a battle or messed up. Also got a game over after only a few successful battles.

Loved the mini game system but due to your take on theme I didn't get to play as long as I liked. (so I played a couple times) Great entry!

What is being sacrificed here? Also, why did colliding into the boss at the end kill me? I don't understand. Shouldn't have that triggered a boss battle or something?
Keldy
05. Dec 2018 · 01:58 UTC
@pennycook Our first plan was to do a option to choose sacrifice a character or an item, but because of time and some unexpected bugs we decided to randomize a character.
And thanks for the comments, we really appreciate the feedback

Quite complex game for a creating time of 72 hours. And I am talking about complex in a good way. Choosing the fights carefully to loose as fewer party members as possible is an interesting game design decision. I also like the small minigames within a fight. With these, the result of an encounter is mostly bound to the player's skills. Great job!

Very nice effort. I liked that each hero had a unique minigame. I found them pretty hard to win consistently, although I got best at the Paladin. The Wizard one kept going off on its own. Very impressive graphics and design. Nice work.

The art is great, and I liked this kind of game. I didn't really understand why even though characters die they still have health and an inventory slot.

I really like the mood of this game, the combat mechanic where you have to keep a bar from going red on either side was confusing, and I still don't know what to do exactly. But I like the graphics, and the feel. Nice job!

Fun idea with the various minigames for each character. Would be nice to add a bigger indication that items are being added to the inventory that need to be equipped to work.

I really love the art of the cut scenes and the cover art. Not as much the in game art, but still 5 stars for the static art pieces. I like the different mini games, even though they were quite hard, especially the barbarian. That one was really tough. I didn't really like the sacrifice mechanic, being an RPG I like to fight monsters, it felt wrong to be punished for doing so, and no loot from them to boot. Although, that said, I did like the fact that the different monsters all had their own movement patterns. Reminded me of Crypt of the Necrodancer in that way. By the second play through I was able to beat the boss only having fought one monster before hand because I was able to navigate around the enemies using their unique patters. Really solid entry well done to you all.

Very cool game here. Cool to see a game from a larger team. You were able to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. The combat was fun. The sound and art design is stellar. Great job!

Really love the music and the graphic novel style intro. Minigames as combat is a really interesting mechanic. The art look great.

My only real complaint is that the combat is probably the most enjoyable part of the game, but you only access combat if you have ostensibly made a mistake. It feels a bit like you are punished with character loss for having fun.

Really nice work.

05. Dec 2018 · 06:29 UTC
I love the music, they're great, however I did not understand why the game was over for me. Also I could avoid the monsters all the time. As the @justalocalhero said, the most fun part of the game was the combat but player is punished for entering them(even if you can win)

Overall the artwork is great, the animations are cute and nice work.
Still the main menu is playing in the background and I have to say again that it's a great music!

I like the idea, the story, the music and the graphics. The mini game idea is really interesting, but for me I failed all most of them, and I am not always sure what made me succeed or not succeeded in the mini game. But overall a fine LD game.
Marshal
05. Dec 2018 · 14:05 UTC
@justalocalhero maybe this was the sacrifice that we had to make in the development haha. But the original concept was to you have decisions to make whatever you enter a combat you need to sacrifice a item or a character of your party but time was too short.

I loved the music and the little cinematic at the begging of the game, but for the game itself, I found that the graphics were a bit of lower quality.

Furthermore, I enjoyed the fight mecanics bud I was a bit disappointed that every time you enter in, a team member dies randomly, that could have been better if the player could decide who have to die because here, we don't have the impression of "sacrifice" but more a feeling of punishement.

The game is a tad confusing at first, but it's pretty fun once you figure it out. The influence of the current theme is clear. One thing I would improve on is the walking animation/speed, as the character feels a bit sluggish to control.

Overall, I like it. The graphics are pretty cool for such a short jam. Good job!

This was great! I did find some of the abilities difficult to hit reliably, especially the archer, seems a little to random, and there was one time that it never even went over the bullseye, so it i guess took to long and I lost the turn. My favorite thing about this has to be the atmosphere and sfx/music. Very well done.

Great work. It looks good, I liked the moody atmosphere the music sets, and the different minigames for the different characters is a novel idea.

I didn't really enjoy the way the theme was implemented - it felt like I was being punished for playing the game, because the most fun part was combat, but participating in combat forces you to lost a party member. I also had a bit of difficulty with the tileset you made for the dungeon, there isn't quite enough contrast between the spaces you can walk on and the walls, it all kind of blends together. Overall this is impressive though.

I really love the art and music! Took me a while to figure out what I'm supposed to do. I started out with the Cleric and I had trouble seeing where I was going whenever I jumped upwards. I ended up crashing into Baddies a lot of the time because I wasn't able to see them until it was too late, unless that is part of the intended gameplay? The mini games were cute and a lot of effort has clearly gone into this game for creating this much content in such a short amount of time!

You guys put a lot of work in this project, with all the different combat styles and all the systems. That is pretty amazing. Something I found that could be better. the UI is not coherent with the color and style of the rest of the game. There are a lot of different systems when you are on a combat and that makes the game a bit too confusing.

Wow, another very polished game from your team! I enjoyed it quite a lot, especially the mini-games on the encounters. I only had some minor complaints about some UI stuff, because there's not much to complain about anyway – apart from the level design ;) Here's how my playthrough(s) went:
