Barnacle Dash by Philippe

[raw]
made by Philippe for LD 40 (JAM)

Summary

Avoid the rocks as your submarine travels to the underwater base.

Controls

  • Up or W to move up
  • Down or S to move down
  • R to restart
  • Esc to exit

Try to avoid barnacles as they will latch onto your submarine and slow down your maneuverability.

Good job! Simple game, but very well executed. My only critique is that it starts a bit slow. Otomata? Never used it before. Ill have to give it a try. Thanks!

Nice twist to the side scroller. Music is way to repetitive, to the point I rather it wasn't there.

Liked the concept of having the barnacles slow you down, made it interesting when deciding which way to go. I liked the design of the submarine. The music howwver was very repetitive, would have liked just some ambient music instead.

oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have also a page there? This looks great! I looked for the games that used the #LDJAM but I don't find yours. So good luck!! I will hope to make a video about it!

Shame you didn't elect for "Mood", since I really liked the mood of the game! The controls were good, and the general mechanic fit the theme. I wish that there was some way to "shake off" the barnacles, since after ~4 it was hard to avoid hitting more, and after ~10, you basically couldn't avoid rocks. Nonetheless, great job!

Good simple game! And I liked the use of barnacles. I never made it to the end, but record was 169 meters left with only two barnacles on my hull.

Nice simple game. Making it to the end is maybe a bit too dependent on getting lucky barnacle / rock positioning.

good take on theme. Initially I thought I was suppose to eat the barnacles. cute sub. Here's my play through: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/208228339
