Hello guys! This is my 8th entry: Ping Bang Pong.

Theme

Interpretating the theme as "Combine 2 genres that aren’t usually combined", I combined a top-down shooter game with a ping pong (table tennis) game.

screen3.jpg

Description

You are the ping pong champion, but your old team stole your trophy. Enter in their trainning place, kill them all and take your trophy.

In Ping Bang Pong, you can only kill enemies by shooting to the floor or the wall in first place, hitting them after a bounce.

Controls

WASD / Arrows - Move

Left click - Shoot

Esc / P - Pause

TO-DO List

This is my "TO DO" list that I could not finish:

  • Improve the bounce prediction (accuracy and effects).
  • Improve the visual feedback on ball hits.
  • Make some items, like buttons on the wall, to open rooms when you hit them with the ball.
  • Create a boss. (I was thinking about a boss with a shield, and you have to aim some items to hit him, and dodge some balls at the same time)
  • Secondary action, deflect balls with right click.
  • Improve the AI, who can dodge some of your balls.
  • Fix some enemies who rotate in certain places when dead.

Graphics are really simple but the overall is very cool. Animations are really clear and well made and I love the concept.
The only "bad point" I can see is that when you aim on the bottom of the screen you can't really do what you want because you can't see the wall so it always shoot really high

I like this concept a lot! I wish I could deflect incoming balls back at the opponents with RMB.

Had a lot of fun playing it! Although aiming sometimes can be really tricky it became really fun once I realized you can kill without them seeing you using corners and learning to shoot to the ground to hit them. Made me had that hit and run feeling from Hotline Miami in a really good way!

Would love the camera to move towards the aiming spot so you can see more part of the sceneario!

The physics and the concept are cool. It becomes slow-paced when I realized I was allowed to snipe them from far away by spamming.
Hold RMB/Space to use a stronger smash would be awesome!

I wish the restart level button is in the middle instead :(
Maybe it is just me, I misclicked the restart game button couple times.

This game is fantastic man, like a pingpong hotline miami or superhot lol, music is great really adds to the mood. Graphics are nice and clean. Great take on the theme, only thing to critique is its not very innovative but the rest of the categories you did well in.

overall 4.5/5 from me.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!! The idea, the graphics and the music is so good. The only complain I have, is that I would have liked to be able to rotate the camera. But overall a very well made game. And most important "I LOVE THIS GAME".

Thanks all for comment!

Some things what you say was in my TO-DO list, but sadly I had no time for all :(

For example:

- Right click: deflect enemy balls (as said @ragtagradical)
- Improve the vision of the main character through the walls

The game is well presented and mechanically solid. The predictive indicator showing you where the ball would go was a little hit or miss (as were the hitboxes) but it is an impressive show concerning theme and innovation. Great work!

Very interesting mix! It was a little bit challenging for me at the beginning, but finally I've get used to controls and even managed to beat a couple of levels. Overall the game has good music and sound effects, the graphics is neat and fully functional.

What a great idea ! I started my first playthrough as if I was in an action game, only to understand that it was all a matter of patience and precision. Aiming works well, even if I would suggest to make it more obvious when the ball is going to it the enemy (here it sometimes take time adjusting the shots despite the helper crossing the enemy). Props for your level design too !

On the other hand, the music is great, and the graphics are functional (nice animations !). The noice of ping pong ball made me nostalgic as I used to play it a lot back then. Overall, really solid entry !

Very fun game to play! 😄 I particularly enjoyed trying to hit the enemies around the corner by bouncing the balls of the walls 😄

Very fun game! I really liked the twist of needing to bounce the ball to kill the enemy, it took me a couple of tries to not just click blindly haha. I do wish that the aim line actually indicated the path of the ball - sometimes it would pass by a corner that would end up deflecting the ball, which was a bit of a nuisance. Otherwise, great work!

This was quite fun! :D It took me a while to realize I could just bounce balls off the floor for much easier kills. With some additional features and polish, this could make a full title.

The art is kinda cool, minimalist in a good way, and well animated. The UI (menu, etc) was a little too simple. There's room for style there.

All in all I am quite impressed!

This is fun to play. As others have said, the physics play a huge part of it. I'd love a to try a PVP version of this. :)

Very good entry here! Enemies are little bit aggressive at first and I understand quickly it's more effective to play sneaky style to kill them. Good job! :)

Just really good game. Physics doing so much that I got my tea warm again.
More people should see it!

I found that this game had a good balance of hectic run-and-spam until you get em', and cautious tactical aiming around a corner. Fun entry! Good job!

Wow, that was tough! I had a hard time reading the angles to hit the enemies, and it seemed like the projected predictive path was often wildly wayward. Still a fun entry, but it kicked my butt up and down the street. lol

thought this game was fantastic. I was able to cheese my way around a little hitting guys from odd bounces and also shooting them off screen. Fun game with a really cool mechanic/concept.
