HOW TO PLAY

Sacrifice your loyal minions to help clear a safe passage for The King. Take control of any chess piece by clicking on it. Use Escape to release the piece and select another. Use Arrows or WASD to move pieces around the board.

HINTS: The sides of the chess board become accessible as you unlock levels. Higher value chess pieces appear in the game as you continue leveling up. There are 7 total levels in the game.

Gain points by moving the King across the board. Remaining pieces award points as follows...

  • Pawns: 100 pts
  • Knights: 300 pts
  • Bishops: 300 pts
  • Rooks: 500 pts
  • Queen: 900 pts
  • King: 2,000 pts

Nice simple idea, quite well executed, a little hard though, there are a lot of gaps.

I made it to level 7 and had a good shot at finishing only to have the game crash suddenly. Not sure what caused it...it's a really fun design though, a good take on the "sacrifice to reveal the board" that I've seen a few games do this LD.

The idea meets the theme very well but I'm ended up to with a lot of try and error. Some kind of hidden logic would be helpful and get the game much more depth .. maybe the is one but i couldn't find out :/

nice concept, pretty fun. Only feedback would be to have a highlight on the chess piece selected so the player can visually see the selection.

Decent idea, it's a shame there's no real strategy to it. It loses it's excitement when you realise you're probably going to lose, but not because you did anything wrong.

I can't seem to get past the title screen. I tried different resolutions, fullscreen on and off, but nothing works. I'm running Windows 8.1 if that helps.

Liked the concept, and the narration was funny too. I tried to use the exit button to exit the piece, but yeah it exits the game.

Having the same title screen issue as @svntax

For some reason, when I sacrifice a piece, I can no longer move pieces.
Example: Choose pawn > Step onto board > Piece falls > Game zooms back out > I pick another piece > I can't move > I change to other pieces > None of them can move

Man, this game is hard. I wish there was another way to deduce which squares were safe. Maybe a minesweeper kinda mechanic. As it is now it feels like I can just the units randomly till their deaths. The graphics are really nice and Duke Nukem is awesome.

frame-perfect input for moving diagonal made playing nearly impossible. There is also no real way to determine which squares are good or bad so it is purely random, just throwing units at the board and hoping you find a path. Neat concept for sure, but could use some more thinking.
