A Short Story by iamtalin

A short point & click adventure game taking the theme from a more storytelling perspective.
Note: try not interacting with items while the character is moving, there's a rare bug that soft locks the game.
Using: Unity, Adobe Photoshop and Spine 2D.

The character is really odd at first, just a floating head I first thought it was a bug but then I imagined the truth, it gets more clear after visiting the garden.
I would lock the character movement when you open one of the log entries or letters, it was very weird to move over or behind them.
The End scene seamed a bit off, maybe living the letter in sight would have helped.
To finish, I really liked the art and general mood of the game.
I especially loved the graphics/drawings and the subliminal "development" of the main character.
Nice to see a game on a jam that tells a story!
There were few techincal issues (player blocks the letters, door are not visible etc.), but for a Jam game this is awesome
I find it fascinating how someone can evoke feelings in such a short amount of time. It's like whenever I watch the movie Up, 5 min in and im sobbing... Every time. Anyway what I'm trying to say, Im impressed and I think you nailed the mood.
The theme is very well imbedded with the game. I think you captured it on a large scale with the war and Jons mental health, but also within the details like the quality of the handwriting and different signatures.
The graphics fits great with the overall feeling of the game, although I can't stop thinking about Darkest Dungeon for some reason :) . And to actually contribute with some constructive feedback, maybe the characters and the scenes don't go super well together.
Well done. Thank you and good luck!
Congratulations for doing a nice little adventure game in a jam.
Anyway, this game is beautiful :) Good work !
