Universe is Trashy!

  • Robots are producing more and more space junks

    • Freeze them by shooting them, temporarily preventing them from moving/produce junks
  • Clean the junk without colliding with them

  • Don't Get Overwhelmed by Increasing number of junks

Information.png

How to Play

  • Press W to accelerate

  • Left mouse click to shoot

    • If you miss, your bullet will turn into a junk
    • You can also use it to freeze the robots
  • Move your mouse to look around

If you are playing in WebGL, it's best NOT to use the full screen mode. It breaks the aspect ratio. Also, for Windows/Mac/Linux version, aspect ratio is breaking for 'Some' devices. Most reliable version so far is WebGL version without full screen mode.

Tons of fun! my highest was 94. Ill give ratings when i can!

I think the controls are too sensitive, also maybe add some kind of a decay with the moving. Sounds are sorta uncomfortable all mixed together. Cleaner music and sfx goes a long way. :D

Thanks @joshcanprogram. I will try to improve on those parts!

Really fun, I agree with josh on the music but I personally liked the sound effects. It looks really clean and I definitely will play some more. My current high-score is 87. Maybe I'm just salty because this is how I lost but a little notification like a caution symbol for when trash is coming out of the wall would be great

A BIG well done :) !! My high score is 60 something I think... it's really hard ! Great explosion effects and really cool/cute space ship ! My one complaint is that hazards seem to just pop out right next to me, leaving hardly any time to dodge ! Perhaps create some warning sign, like a flashing red square before spawning the hazard. Anyway great job ! Fits very nicely with the theme of the game jam :) !

@nikthenarwhal , @noa-calice Thank you! I would like to add a warning sign before junk spawns. Thanks for the suggestion!

Mmmmmmmm

I really like the feel and presentation, hitting the junk is juicy and the screenshakes are good. Things pop and bop and that all feels good, but the gameplay problems bring it down:
1. The player's movement is FAST. TOO fast. That, combined with the movement being tied to the same direction as shooting, means if the player moves a lot they'll definitely crash a lot and die quickly. That encourages the kind of play that is to stand still somewhere and just shoot.
2. Standing still and shooting is not interesting.
3. For games like this the player's movement being decoupled from the movement direction of the player is important to make the game more dynamic.
4. Yes a forewarning system for when stuff might appear right on top of you to do massive damage would be important.

very fun and cool mechanics - love the idea that missed bullets turn into more trash
theme wise definitely give that feeling of claustraphobia

I have to agree with tuism on the movement. My best score came from standing in one spot and not doing anything but shooting in a circle, and that's not particularly interesting, now is it? To your credit though, the graphics/audio were great, and the theme was very well implemented and apparent. Slow down the player and add some warnings, maybe a boss or two, and you have a great arcade shooter!

I also agree with tuism, the movement being in the same direction as where you are shooting lends itself to the player standing still and just shooting. As other have said, a forewarning system would be nice too. Other than that the game is pretty solid and also had enjoyable music.

My best score was 87

And as other people have said, got it by standing still.
Fit the theme perfectly tho, and I like how random those assets that clutter the screen are :P

136. Best score with only moving a slight bit to avoid a situation, where I couldn't shoot one robot, because an iced robot was in the way.

Having music is nice, though it gets on your nerves after some time  - I don't have real music in my game, so I won't complain. Sound effects are pretty ok from my point of view. Graphics is a bit *too* blocky for my taste. Great take on the theme, and the game is working!
