Space Rescue. My first Jam game by Joskineide

[raw]
made by Joskineide for LD 39 (JAM)

It is a game about saving as much people as possible before running out of power, IN SPACE! You can spin and propel yourself forward. Left and Right arrow keys to spin the character and "Space Bar" to boost (consuming power) and can reset the game by pressing R. You can collect batteries along the way to go a bit further. Hitting meteors also drain power, so watch out for those. Reaching a portal will warp you to the next stage.

I liked it! Found it quite challenging and I would've like to specify the resolution myself but still really good, especially for a first game jam! Well Done!

Quite fun, good graphics and sound. Only thing that bugged me was the blurriness of some of the sprites like the stars and the tutorial screen.

Cool game! The intro screen was a little bit blurry, but I liked having to manage your boosts. I managed to get to 10 pickups before dying!

Woah, the concept is super cool, and the realisation of it is pretty nice ! Interesting levels, and neat graphics and sounds, I love it ! Could use more mecanics to add more twists and complex level design, but that's for a more complete game maybe, not for a ludum dare, it's really complete in the current state imo ! Deserves way more ratings (and good ones). I really like it ! I'm gonna try to finished it now, I've only saved 24 persons on my best run (with a strategy focused on saving the most battery possible, instead of saving every person of every level like I was doing before). Great job !

I enjoyed this game, getting stranded in space worked well for the theme. I think it might have been better (or at least easier) if you aimed with the mouse, or if the jetpacks were continuous rather than single boosts.

There are not enough space games in this world! I love the idea and the feel about it. Even if the game is just a prototype I enjoyed controlling someone in the space. The only thing I can say is... add a hook! That would be amazing. Seriously, great entry and pretty well made. Good luck!

Really great entry. Game seems very polished and level design is well thought out. Graphics are nice and clean, everything stands out well, although players astronaut could be more different than others. Simple sound gives a bit of atmosphere. I especially liked how movement feels. Maybe it's not the most realistic (high drag in space, bumpy screen borders) but works great in game.

How about putting a WebGL version for people to play? It's a great strength of Unity.

First up: I had to run the game in Unity because there is no Web or Linux version. Please export for more platforms. Also 1-2 screenshots of the game would be nice in the entry post.

I like the idea and I actually had a very similar idea half way through the jam. The sounds and music are fitting, but I'd prefer a little higher fidelity. The graphics are fitting, the asteroids and the rescue target could use some variation though.
Game play wise I like the simple implementation, but it's hard to make finer movements.

Wow, I really liked this game! The visuals and sounds were very nice, but where this game really did well is the gameplay. I have played many space games so far in this competition, and all of them seemed to try to have a "high-inertia" type movement, but this is the first game that has pulled it off so well. Really, it was just fun to move around. Not only did this game require skill, but it required patience and strategy; I really like that too. I also some of the little details, like some asteroids exploding upon colliding with each other. Overall, this was a very good entry!

Realy nice game ! I love the global mood of the game, with this quite unexpected music ! The dilema between saving people or completing levels is really well done ! Congratulations !

That's a really fun game you made. I found it challenging at first but then I got the hang of it and got a little bit addicted
I got a high score of 20 people saved.

The graphics are nice, the sound effects make the job and the game is just fun. So greta job!!

Really solid game! There's a good skill curve to timing your jetpack boosts right as you fly past a target.
Cant think of any criticisms here. If you want to do some post-jam work on it, id recommend adding some slight variation to the backgrounds. For a jam game though, it looks just fine.

Good game for sure! I found the jetpack a bit too powerful (going almost over the whole screen with just a tiny amount of boost), but once I had the knack of it, it was a nice experience. Good job! :)

Very cool concept, the only issue I had was getting going reallllly fast. Maybe cap the speed :P The graphics are nice, but pretty blurry in lots of places. Overall, pretty fun and good job!
