Pug Pub by MaiMai

made by MaiMai for LD 40 (JAM)

Run your own pug pub! Serve drinks to the neighbourhood dogs to attract even more!

But be aware that too many will make the pub too crowded and your patrons will leave thirsty and unsatisfied!

PugPubScreenshot.JPG

To play:

Once a dog sits at your counter, click on them to move there, then click the drink button to serve them.

All three drinks satiate your patrons' thirst, but the middle one makes the patrons more happy than the top one, and the bottom one makes them more happy than the second.

The happier your patrons are, the more word gets around, and the more patrons come to your pub. This seems good, but the more there are the harder it is for your patrons to get to you at your bar. And some may just give up after a while and leave!

So, the game is about balancing the "quality" of drinks you give out to satisfy your patrons' thirsty throats. The 'Husky Whisky' is nice, but you don't want everyone drinking your best drinks when you could serve them a cheap 'Bulldog Beer' for the same price instead!

Real talk:

This game is more of a casual zen experience where you can't really lose once you learn how to play. So keep that in mind when playing.

Our original game concept had more complexity and nuance, but due to the typical game jam reasons we were only able to complete the core gameplay. That being said, please let us know if you encounter any bugs!

Really cute, and very nice art. However I found it got old quickly; it does get more intense, but by the time it ramps up I'm ready to stop. It looks and sounds great though!

I would serve those doggos anytime ! The visuals are amazing, you really captured those warm tavern colors. The gameplay is a bit long to start but it gets more and more hectic and interesting! I didn't get what difference the drinks made but I liked having to choose :)

Similar like the commenter above: the visuals are really, really nice. The game play is more on the slower side, at least at first and I also don't know the difference between the drinks.

Amazing graphics and mood. The game took a while to get interesting but when it did it was fun.

Adorable! Visually, the game is quite cute, and the medieval styling within the bar and UI mix together with the dogs to create a charming fairy tail (pun) like theme. The graphics and casual game-play fit well together and sets a relaxing mood.

My main complaint is it's a bit too simple. At first I thought it would be similar to dinner dash, when it wasn't, I figured each breed might only like a particular drink and you would have to experiment and recognize who was at the bar, but that wasn't the case either. It can get a tad bit stale, especially since it takes so long to ramp up. Of course, lack of depth can be forgiven, cuts are unavoidable in such a small time-frame, and the simplistic nature does work towards the "zen" like experience.

My only other gripe is the path finding. The doggie patrons seemed to clump together, blocking each-other from moving, even when a clear path is available, creating a giant dog pile in the middle. Dogs will go out of their way and go around the bar when a seat right next to them is available.

Overall, the cute fairy tale styling and simple but calming game-play works, creating a solid entry. Great work!

Excellent graphics. The audio is also nice and fits the game as well.

Suggestions:
- Make the game starts faster
- Make the difference between the drinks clearer
- Make a special feature to make the game more innovative.

Really fun play, and the graphics are just admirable!

As a lot of other players, I felt the start a bit slow. But once it's passed, the game is really enjoyable :)
Graphics are really great, even though the ui of the different drinks could've been clearer. Once you got it, the concept of managing the number of clients by serving them good or bad drinks is clever and not that hard to master, allowing you to chill and manage the best you can.

Well done!

Wow, cuteness overload! Loved the art style, "such wow" :P The whole pub theme was really cool, and the music fit really well!

The premise is nice but it does take a little bit long at the start to get more dogs, so it is a bit boring. Maybe that could be adjusted. Also, I know you didn't have time for more gameplay and goals but I really think it's a game worth to keep working on and add those. Maybe the pub could also start to serve food, and you could wait tables, you have to separate chewing toy fights, which all together keeps your hands full :)

The dog breed name beers were clever! Congratulations, great work, I hope you keep working on it!

The game starts slowly, because you need to wait a lot, but than it becomes a real challange...

...challange to reach your bar table for these cute dogs :D

PS: It will be great to have a dogs counter in gui because it becomes challanging and funny with a time.

Your artstyle is awesome, I like it very much. I think the game is a solid basis for a more complex game. Sadly, after some time i came across this error and the game froze: "Argument 1 of PannerNode.setPosition is not a finite floating-point value."

However, good job. :)
