A simple game about a runaway mage, an excessive amount of mushrooms, and a lava lamp. Play as the inanimate green runaway mage as they try to put as much distance between their teacher's servants and themselves as possible, and try to get a handle on their magic powers.

You know what they say though... the more magic you use, the more fungus is among you.

Changelog

v1.01

Fixed a nasty bug where the king shroom began to walk and burst through his castle walls then vanish if the Player was approaching the castle gate.

Fixed up some improper dialogue tree connecting. Still investigating some of the conditionals.

Also now the download link actually will give you a playable game. Who knew the data folder was so important

v1.02

Fixed a bug where you could die even though you completed the game

Red mushrooms now actually give you health instead of taunting you with ideas of regaining health.

Builds for OS and Linux now available!

Found a bug with some of the dialogue and the end of the game and will be uploading a new build momentarily!

Text and UI is rather simple, I suspect that you were rushed and had to make something quick haha. Its a very fun game and an intresting concept. Great submission!

@jack-maxwell Haha yeah I left it for last if I was going to make it fancy, and the text I originally used was unreadable, so I had to go simple. Thanks for the feedback!

I kept wanting to just hold the mouse button and keep moving towards the pointer. a little bit of feedback when you click on the mushrooms chasing you would also be nice.

@maksim-nikolaev Aw thanks! To be honest, having assets I didn't have to make myself helped XD;;

@juxipolo Yeah the game does lack decent feedback, visually and soundwise. After the voting, I'm gunna polish it up with some better player feedback. :)

I thought this had an interesting story. But I feel very confused. Like I was on mushrooms or something.

Very interesting! I made it to the end, but it wasn't always clear how my choices were having any effect. I liked the limitation on using too much magic (i.e., taking more damage). The look of the game was quite good too. Neat storytelling!

This had me laughing out loud. Fantastic dialogue! I enjoyed my playthrough, although I feel a little bit bad about incinerating so many mushroom people. Oh well.

The music fits the game world very well-- all of them are non-understandable and mysterious. And you showed me how powerful voxel can be in fast-making a world. Good job!

@professor You're welcome!

@tinykidtoo ;-D

@sorlok Yeah it wasn't super clear how the choices would actually affect things. I'm glad you enjoyed though!

@Wheffle YES! Maximum hilarity achieved!

@fangzhangmnm Thanks! I didn't use any voxels to make this! Just modular 3D assets :3

@Blazen Thanks!

Funny, with good art. Really liked the approach into town and the weird story. Nice one!

Very humorous game. Loved the art of the town and the music and the writing of course.

Neat! Not at all what I expected from the description, but much funnier. Great job with the art, especially in such a short timeframe.

It needs some music!

Good job with the scripting!

I would say that the gameplay mechanism needs to be polished more. It seems that the main part is the dialog adventure game but adds additional parts to fit the theme.

@ted @wakka2 Thanks!

@simonhutchinson I swear it's got music! XD I'm glad it was funnier than your expectations!

@cliff-lee-cl You know, that's a really good point. It's definitely lacking something, and had I not decided to try to create a dialogue system halfway through the jam I would have put into place some other mechanics that I'd been prototyping the day before. It's something I'm looking into to expand and polish on outside of the jam. Thanks for the honest critique!

Interesting take on the theme. The dialogue was well written and full of funny references. The game outside of the dialogue didn't really seem to do much. It looks like quite an ambitious project, so I can understand why some elements are missing.
I'd love to play a later version of the game though, once you've finished adding in all the core features you wanted. It's a really creative idea.

Very nice and charming dialog. Would have loved to have some SFX on the magic you cast in the dialog :) Very nice graphics. The music was maybe a bit too heretical for the game, would recommend a softer more adventure type of song. Great start of a good game!

Nice game! I know you didn't make the art assets but it is still visually well put together!

The script was pretty funny actually, and I enjoyed playing though. Could probably have done with a run through a spell checker as there were loads of spelling mistakes, but obviously not the end of the world. It was nice to have (what appeared to be) a branching story too.

Good game!

Pretty good adventure game for a jam. It looks very nice. The music doesn't seem to match the setting/mood though.

Haha the dialogue was fantastic. I love the graphics, though I wish there may have been a bit of animation going on with the player and mushrooms. Would've been great to see them actually flailing! Music was very fitting too :)

Is the mushrooms a hint? do they help the game take on all new meaning lol

Love the music and really fun game

The music is really good at putting the runaway mood of your game, graphics are cute and story telling is really nice. Maybe the game could be a little harder, I succeed on my first run filling almost nothing in the magic bar and losing very little health. It is clearly a really pleasant short-story anyway, thank you for sharing!
