Rip Apart by muzigpuzig
In Rip Apart it is your task to get to your destination at the end of each stage to find your peace. On the way to your finish you have to solve various puzzles and overcome dangerous obstacles by sacrificing various parts of your zombie body.
How to Play
To get to the end of the level you have to use your body parts wisely. Every part can be used just once and has a different kind of skillset you can make use of: - 1 Head: Throw in flat gaps you cant enter (Key 5 and then Q) - 1 Arm: Throw as a spear to climb walls (Key 2 and then Q) - 2 Legs: Dig a hole (Key 3 or 4 then W,W) or leverage stones (Key 3 or 4 then Q) - 1 Eye: Throw in small gaps (Key 6 then Q)

Sacrificing parts of your body also makes you smaller which allows you to enter parts of a stage you can't reach as a whole zombie. You can press buttons with any part that can reach the designated button.

Insight
This game was built in Unity2D. It is coded in C# by using Visual Studio. The Graphics are made in Gimp from scratch.
Theme
When thinking about "Sacrifices Must Be Made" we thought about sacrifices oneself has to do and not about sacrificing someone else. We built the game around funny mechanics to make this dark sounding theme more joyful.
Status
The game has currently two stages, which have to be completed in the same run. Every implemented mechanic has some use case. It's developed in a way, to which new mechanics and stages can be added easily in the future.

was this originally meant to be a platform rather than a puzzle game?
I discovered a lot of things you never mentioned in the instructions while playing:
>The ability to wall cling (automatic whenever you jump into a wall)
>The ability to pull back eyes and arms (by pressing Q if you're within a certain range)
>The ability to reverse direction before rolling your eyes or head

Like a B-reversal from Smash Bros.
Were these added as features for a game with a wider scope? did the time constraints hurt you?
@Sashbros Yeah we noticed the gameplay right now is a lot of trial and error, but didn't notice since we were playtasting regularly during developement :D Thanks!
@themadprogramer Actually it was supposed to be an even slower puzzle game, where you have to use a lot of precision while using certain skill, but we couldn't implement it in time. Our Timemanagement was a bit off, mainly because I'm not used to coding alone and wasted a lot of time Bugfixing instead of implementing! Thanks!
@Stirling Yeah, we had a couple problems with that, because it was my first time working in 2D in Unity. I used too many edge colliders to fix clunky floor parts, which resulted in jumping and instantly resetting the "Player is in air" state instantly because of the round shape of the edge collider. Thank you!
My two complaints neutralize one another: I didn't like having only two levels nor did I like restarting from level 1. But if you had any more levels I'd be angry that I have to start from the very beginning XD
I gave you a 5 on innovation I honestly believe you can market a game out of this and wish you the best of luck
