Teddy The Tardigrade by wujood
Welcome to the world of Teddy the Tardigrade!

Tardigrades are small creatures that can sustain the most extrem conditions that the universe has to offer, yet they are as small as a needlepin. But somehow one of them had a little genetic disorder..
This Tardigrade is different then other tardigrades. He just won't stop growing. Eat your way through this world and grow as you eat anything that seems eatable. You start at the bacterial level in a waterdrop on a leaf... and who knows when you will stop growing?

There were a few inconsistencies mechanics that were confusing though. First, movement speed seemed to work oddly. Sometimes walking became incredibly slow, second most smaller enemies are consumed on touching them from any orientation, but the soldiers in the last scene won't be consumed if you jump on them. Not sure why but with the slow horizontal movement sometimes I thought I was going to get shot too much before I could get off the soldiers and eat them from the ground level.
You do need to work on your input and feedback loop, wasnt very clear when i ate or got hurt. Also your controls are very floaty and jumping earlier on results in you almost floating off. With alittle extra time and polish this could be a real gem. Keep up the good work.
But on my 3rd or 4th time through I started getting the idea, and it is a cool idea! Cool sounds, and lots of cool little surprises along the way.
Unfortunately I didn't finish it, but if you work on this a bit more and get the controls tighter please let us know! I'd love to see how it ends.
If you don't check tutorial, you will end up dead (interesting, but misleading design choice of arrow pointing at enemy instead of food). Controls behave wierd (I suppose that collider is set exactly to barrier pixels, meaning when you hit for example pixelarty rock, you will get stuck on pixel edge and get slowed down). What I mean by this is that sometimes you are slow, sometimes fast. Also you can sometimes get lost (and even killed) because you can't see enough of space around you. The art style looks nice but bit inconsistent (varying sprite resolutions, mixing 3D and 2D [in main menu], main menu was not in the same style as the rest of the game).
Lastly I don't know if this is bug or not, but sometimes when I touched some not marked anemone, I got hurt. But still, nice entry.
**What you did well**
The sprites worked well and for whatever reason, I actually liked the camera filter that was applied. The music was nice and I think that the core ideas were good.
**What you could improve on**
The movement... The ground had no friction which made it very hard to stop the character. The jumping was also extremely floaty and meant I could get through huge chunks of the level by jumping across.
Overall though, it was a nice game and could become even better with improved movement.
The controls felt really unresponsive and sometimes buggy, maybe the gravity should be increased and the maxspeed / acceleration tweaked.
Along with this maybe you needed a jumping animation?
I liked the idea of the simple arrow / no arrow interface for identifying npcs its clean and allowed a variety of creatures without further explanation.
On the plus side I liked the general atmosphere and background music.
Something I have to criticize, like most already pointed out, the control was very unresponsive and buggy, which I was very frustrated. Maybe the genetic disorder affected the Tardigrade's movement, that why it move so weirdly.
Also there was a problem I got into when I ate too much :(

Overall, I think you guys did a great job!
