Eject Tape by star-sought
Eject Tape is a videotape-themed maze wanderer starring a little crt-robot with not enough space in his memory. He writes his life to tape and lets it go.
Now, our robot is wandering through his old memories, looking for things that were lost long ago. He can play one tape at a time, and each tape recalls a different maze of lost thoughts. To become whole again, he must find his way through each maze and recover what he lost.
My submission for Ludum Dare 42. The theme was running out of space.
Made with Godot 3. Graphics are from Krita, music is from Caustic 3, and sound effects are from my microwave.
This is my first time participating in a game jam. I had a blast and learned a lot!

The world felt too large and thus rather empty, overall. I'm glad the arrows were in there or I would have been lost. I wonder if including some story-related scraps of tape or something, or just added nonfunctional set pieces splashed around more would have really sold it as a complete experience. I didn't really get the emotional connection, but I'm often in developer mode and not in gamer mode, so I'm constantly looking at mechanics anyway.
Gonna rate this one high, and I hope you do well--please expand and update it, too! :)
(I'd give you extra points for using Godot if I could, btw. Love the engine.)
Thank you for the arrows to let you know where to go when you collected the items :D
Nice work!
I honestly can't overstate how much your complements and feedback impact me, especially those of you who found the game touching or emotional. Communicating that feeling is the goal of all of my work and to have been successful at that is deeply fulfilling. Thank you again and I hope to see some of you again in the future!
While it's good that the interpretation of the theme is less literal (I can see why some others like it!) the way it is now feels a bit bolted on to me.
It _is_ very relaxing, and plays smoothly, which is always a nice bonus in between all the hectic pace of the other games :-) Which is to say, the mood is great!
