[raw]
made by zeMenno for LD 41 (JAM)

This is my first ever jam! I was so thrilled, I loved the theme!

So i made a 2D Dungeon Crawler/Space Shooter.

Find your way to the boss, kill him, and find you way out of the dungeon.

Nice game man, I don't know if it was intentional, but the movement didn't really feel tight. It got me almost killed a couple of times. Also I did get a wrong score, it said something like 38000, but I only had like 1200 or something, so you might want to look into that. Great first game jam game overall, you can be proud ;)!

all those things were intentional @DarkAnice, Your score gets muliplied by the amount of hp left

This is actually a really great idea - an exploration single-screen-swapping adventure, with an Asteroids control mechanic. I suppose it could be made (a lot) harder by adding Thust-like gravity to it, or power-ups that adjust the player physics. I'm only coming up with ideas though, because your underlying game is inspiring. Keep it retro!

Really a great game for the first jam! Reminded me of very old gameboy games. Way to go brother.

Nice fun retro game. This is amazing for a first game. I really struggled to get my shots accurate enough to hit the enemies. Maybe you could add a system where there is a gunner controlled by the mouses location and the ship movement with WASD is independent, I feel it would be a more accurate way to shoot and also allow for so interesting drive by scenarios. Congrats!

Good game, will be better if the spaceship follow the mouse position :)

Good job, i liked the feel of the game. The music got a bit repetitive but you have sound controls which not a lot of people have (myself included). So good job on that. And the movement might have felt a bit hard but for me i think that matches up with the asteroids feeling the game gave me.

I love the games idea, but killing enemies seemed to take forever, seemed like they weren't actually taking any damage, and the music was kinda repetitive. Great job though!

The nostalgia of Asteroid and the neo feel of Data Wing! I love it. The only thing I'd recommend is higher speed, which should make the game more chaotic and fun. I saw that this is your first jam, so wonderful job on this!

When I first moved my character, I literally laughed, I love how you blended astroids style movement into a Zelda (1) style dungeon crawler! Well done, you really nailed the theme.

Are power ups on a timer? I was so happy when I first got one, but when I left the room it was gone. Might have been a glitch, but it would have really promoted the exploration part more if your power ups stayed with you through your journey.

All in all, good work!

Great work ! supra nice marriage of games, nice music too.Tight game although I did get completely stuck with no way to progress, the random room generation might need a little fine tuning.Well done for first one!

Did you make the shoot button with the left mouse button key on purpose? 'Cause it throws my aiming off since I'm so use to either mouse aim or using some other key to shoot when aiming is not decided by mouse position. I guess that's all part of the difficulty, haha.

Overall, decent game.

Hi. I'm enjoy to play the game!

**What I'm like the most:**

Rouglike elements is prity cool, it's just insane to see that elemnt in such short period!
Options for souds and music, was realy nice to see.
Music is simple, but in place.
I'm realy like you font for text.

**What I'm think need to fix here:**

Graphics is to simplistic, to monohromic.
Enemies sometimes start attack and chase you from another room, when you don't see them.
Maybe some game progress tracking?
Some enemies not take a distance, from the player.

For overall, well done, good start on Ludum dare!

P.S.

If you have a bit time could you see my game too? I'm will be glad to read you review too!

Pretty great for a first jam! I got hooked and played for a while. I like how the ship handles like a ship, it's a funny combination. The second time I played through there were a lot of empty rooms following one another, this might be a bug I think you might want to check that.

I like the retro feel, but the music did get a bit repetitive after a while. The controls were maybe a bit *too* hard as well, in my opinion.

The controls for the ship were nice, and interesting to play those controls in a "exploration with walls" sort of environment. Music was a little repetitive, and graphics just a tad rushed. An extra hour on art may have given the game a better overall feel (for example, your ship / character is a non-even triangle shape). The enemy sprites were quite cool. Also - if you're going for a pixel art style, you should try and keep all your sprites in scale with each other. meaning - the bullets that are fired should have the same pixel size too imo. Interesting play, good effort!!

Great job on your first jam! You should be proud!

What I liked the most about the game was the ship maneuverability, it feels natural and it is enjoyable to navigate through the map, which is something important in a dungeon crawler. The shooting pace, both for your ship and the enemies is nice too, not too fast or too slow.

What I think you can improve in your next game or update: The control scheme is a little bit confusing right now for my taste, since I can turn my ship with the arrow keys but I can't move forward pressing the up arrow. But hey, maybe you just forgot to put another statement on the movement script (those kind of mistakes happen). Another issue I've faced regarding the control scheme is that I can only shoot using the mouse and my first intuition was to use the "space bar" to shoot. Maybe you could give more options for the player, or let them choose the control scheme.

Overall it was a nice game, the idea is very interesting and the exploration of the map feels natural. Congratulations on the entry and keep up the good work!

Cool game, I liked the artstyle, and random generation is working pretty well too. There was a bug with shoothing where sometimes clicking does not shoot.
The musics are simple and comfortable to listen, it fits with the mood of game well, this is also true for sound effects.
Mechanics-wise there is nothing novel, but it's a good combination of the 2d shooter/dungeon crawler.
I liked the designs of enemies as well.
Add some mechanics/enemies/polish and it would be a quite fun game to pass time.

Nice retro feel and smooth game-play. Also liked how the room was different both times I played, with different enemies I hadn't noticed the first round. Some indication of enemy health would have been nice, but I enjoyed the game none-the-less
