Santa on Skis by Zathnic

Screen01.png

Santa's reindeers are tired of having to deliver millions of presents each year. He just can't persuade them to change their minds, so Santa is left on his own this year. Does this mean there's no chance presents will be delivered?

Well, no, but sacrifices must be made. The only way Santa can deliver the presents on time is if he uses his magical skis. But the skis have a mind of their own and aren't exactly easy to control.

But if Santa wants to avoid millions of unhappy children, he doesn't have a choice -- he must use the skis, even if that means destroying some snowmen and christmas trees along the way. Hopefully he'll deliver enough presents so that people can forgive him for the damage he causes.

Controls:

Arrow Keys

(Left and Right to steer, Up to accelerate, Down to brake)

Note:

The map in this game is procedurally generated. If it places you in a narrow space you can't get out of, just press R to return to the title screen and generate a new map.

Great little game. It reminds me of an old ski game that was on computers back in the early 90s. Love the procedural generation. Nice work with the theme.

great game looks great and runs really well, not sure what the sacrifice is though unless it's having to hit some tree's to reach some kids... aside from that it's a great game

Cool & Funny. :D Just one little idea regarding map generation: I think it would be better if there was always a path to the house without obstacles. And maybe a map to know where to go. But overall impression is really good. :D I actually enjoyed even destroying the trees and snowmen.

i loved this take on sacrifice. i can imagine santa carefully weaving through a forest of snowmen trying not to knock them over. the game is fun too. not gonna admit how long i played before realizing there was a speed up button...

I liked the look of this game the moment I saw the screenshot. The "Procedural Delivering Christmas Presents" genre is quite under-served, with the last entry I really liked being all the way back in 1984 with "Special Delivery" on the Atari 800. That one had a whole stealth minigame section where you go inside the houses and avoid the residents.

Fun game! It fits the sacrifice theme perfectly with how there's no way you can do a run without hitting at least one obstacle My highest score is 2218.

Is that amount of doors for one building lucky?

Nice game! it's a bit difficult to steer, but that makes it good!

Nice cute graphics and Christmas-y music!

It did feel a bit random how well you did since a lot of it was dependant on the level, and the movement could possibly be tweaked to be a bit more exciting, but otherwise solid and complete entry.

Really impressive doing procedural generation during a game jam! The controls were good, and the use of theme was excellent. It would have been helpful to have some points pop up when you hit each object, since it's hard to figure out that, e.g., decorated trees cost you more. But otherwise it was great! My score was negative. :D
