Great game! The art and sound are fantastic, especially the explosions. It feels really satisfying to destroy a group of ships.

My only complaint is the ships that shoot the long laser beams from off screen. They seem incredibly difficult to dodge. Even when I thought I was outside of the beam, it still hit me. Perhaps make it so they can't move where the beam will be after a certain point.

Nice little game, good graphics and audio. Was a little tough to know whether I was successfully eating things or not, but it was fun to play regardless. Good work!

Great job! I really liked it! And it was super smart to put the links for the game on the quit screen

Good looking game. It looks great with all the debris and the beast getting bigger. The largest I was able to grow mine was 12 segments .Then, as @move127 says, a long laser beam comes out from off-screen and whittles you down to nothing. I enjoyed the music too.

Good looking game, it is enjoyable to be a giant worm that shoots laser while constantly growing! I'm not too sure of the purpose of the center planet, it seems to attract the debris so I can easily swallow them. Good submission

The idea is nice, the controls are horrible. Vacuuming is useless, eating debris is inconsistent and lasers are undodgeable if you are long enough.

Man, it's almost as addictive as slither.io :D, the controls are smooth, lasers are really dope, overall I spend 30 minutes trying to beat 20 segments high score :), great game.

The game was incredibly addicting, however many things were left far too vague. There should have been some sort of tutorial or in-game hint system that tells the players what things they can and can't do. It controlled very well once I got the hang of it and overall it was a very fun experience.

It looks like a good game, although I don't really understand how to play

Always wanted to be a huge all devourer space snake! I had to tell myself: ok enough now, we have other games to play, we'll come back later! :D Great music and sound fx, I looved the lasers and the fact that the game was pretty challenging at some point. Would have loved being even more voracious and being able to eat even small stars (but I understand why you didn't do that :D ). You get a plus because of the bearicorn in your logo!! Go animalcorns! ;D

I lagged a bit at the end, but considering my potato computer I think you did a really good job with performance. Good concept that the parts and planets block your laser, so that there is an incentive not to destroy all the planets all at once. Didn't find any bugs and overall enjoyable. Well done.

Holy shit that LOGO is amazing!
I normally only tile based games, but this logo just grabbed me into your black hole!
The game itself felt a bit shallow but ultimately when high enough score the speed grabs you!
Thanks for the game!

The game looks amazing, great job on the graphics, and the music is really cool. The gameplay was a bit confusing, but fun and addictive. I agree with others that the lasers from offscreen ships were annoying since they are impossible to avoid at longer lengths. If they could only shoot you after coming onscreen you could at least have time to hit them first. I was also a bit confused about exactly what I was eating.

I really like this one! Played it for a while and was having a lot of fun, but eventually stopped because progress seemed impossible past a point due to the rail gun lasers, as others have noted. Better in-game feedback (visual, audio, etc.) for successful "harvesting" of a planet would be my other biggest recommendation. I couldn't exactly tell what would make me grow, what vacuuming did, etc. Nice work overall though!

Really cool game. Great quality music and audio. Graphics are great. Really like the VFX as well, good explosions and telegraphing of lasers and such. I was sadly not able to make it to 22 but I did make it to a length of 11.

Hm. The turning radius seems _really_ wide; it was difficult to turn around and eat anything behind me. Might be a framerate thing? The Linux build didn't work for me, so I had to try it in a Windows VM, which naturally was a bit laggy.

Echoing the sentiment about the lasers. Even when I managed to eat something, I was already in the crosshairs of three or four lasers from somewhere offscreen. At least I'm immortal when I have no segments; I spent a few minutes just exploring space as a disembodied head.

The music is charmingly intense, and it would probably feel pretty awesome if I were better at the game :)

Fun game, I loved that you could destroy planets. Wished the laser beam ships had to be somewhat close to you to attack, no fun being so far away and getting sniped! I think I found a bug too where your movement doesn't work right if you play in windowed mode, thought the game was broke, but then relaunched in full screen and seemed to work as intended.

Very pretty, moves smooth, solid core gameplay loop. The offscreen lasers are a bit iffy, though. Destroying planets and ships is great fun!

Loved it - it was very entertaining, the action kept me engaged, and I kept trying to get my best number of segments. The game itself is very visually pleasing and destroying things is extremely satisfying. Nice work!

Can get the game to run, but only if I blindly tab to the start button. My monitor is 1366x768.

Once I manage that, I can't click anything on the title screen.

Shame, I really wanted to play this. :(

I Played this on Livestream a bit ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwY1-PtcDqs

Very solid game, I think my chief complaint was that enemy lasers could hit you from afar and there wasn't anything you could do about it. Being offscreen and hitting me was really frustrating.

Nice looking nommer game! The laser-ships were a tad too harsh at times - they do a hard reset?

Hey just discovered your game and loved it! Nice job with the setting and the mechanics. Sadly I would want to see some element of danger or end game. Love your work!

Fantastic amount of juice, the gamefeel is great. I liked the trickiness of the missile ships, how you had to kill missiles but make sure you saved the ship to eat, though as some others have pointed out, the giant lasers were pretty brutal and tended to sever most of your progress which was unfortunate.

Really liked this. Great gameplay and graphics. Managed to pack a lot of small details like the debris being attracted to the center of the game or the rays that prevented the space snake from growing too long.

Excellent! Loved the music and laser firing sound effect. Only thing I wished was different were the steering controls. I found myself pressing left and right to try and steer which way I was going forward (like as if it was a car), and kept forgetting I needed to press in the direction I wanted to move (i.e. up to move up, left to move left, etc.). Not a big deal to be honest, but that might be something worthwhile to put in an options menu. Overall though, definitely one of the better games I've played so far! Great job!

Camera shake when shooting the meteorites was a nice touch :D

Like the user above I had some weird brain malfunction with the controls, I was expecting the creature to navigate like a car (accelerate/thrust, turn left, turn right, slow down), but it was absolute.

Nice musics too, good work!

I love that you took the concept of snake, made it inter-planetary but then added elements of Galaxian on top, which I think adds a lot to the fun of the game. I feel the laser beam enemies could have had slightly lazier targeting, as if you were anything longer than say 3 segments then it's almost assured to do some damage to you. Unless they're simply there to purposely cut your size down to encourage further play!

This is a very nice entry! Very creative and cool interpretation of the theme. The graphics are really cool and the music and sound fits the game very well. It was easy to learn, but hard to master.

Even though I do not like people asking for money for a LD game, I think this is really fun!
I could have played HOURS with it. Only think that needs to be add: a global highscore. Really nice job there, thanks!

Fun game, I spend some time playing it, the graphics and sound are nice. The laser ships were difficult to dodge the fact they can shoot you out of the screen was weird, couldn't get more than 9 segments because of them.

Great game! Felt great eating a galaxy! Fun to play, great sound, nice art. I only had one critique: I played full screen using keyboard and mouse, but I kept clicking off the game onto my other monitor. All around great entry, good work!

I think this is one of the LD games that I played the most. Pretty fun :) I think that you could do better on making it clearer on whether something is ready to be eaten. It took me a while to figure out that I had to keep breaking into tiny pieces and then use the vaccuum. Also the vaccuum thing could be more efficient.

I really liked the looks of the game and it feels very polished, specially for a game jam. Congrats! Great job!

Great graphics, audio, and gameplay! This game is a real standout. It looks like the character is invincible, which I didn't like, and the lasers felt a little uncounterable, but otherwise, 5 star audio, 4 star mood. You guys really killed it!

Very interesting game! It's quite fun to go around destroying and eating planets. I wish you could destroy missiles with the laser. It's very hard to get to a big size, I only managed 9 before getting nuked down to 3. The planets are hard to eat sometimes, I couldn't quite tell what I could eat or not. With a bit of diversity (upgrades?, levels with goals?), this could go quite a long way. Good job!

The idea is interesting, but we can't loose the game and it kills the challenge. It lacks the rewards system. I can play the game without touching any controls.

12. May 2017 · 21:38 UTC
@piller-yann That's... not true at all? The game takes place within 100 meters of the center. It tells you this. Sure, you can not touch controls and drift off in to Oblivion where there is no game, but that is not the game playing itself.

Had some trouble with the link (??) during the actual jam, so just getting to it now and: Wow! That was amazing! Great art, great sound. Shooting the planets with lasers was satisfying, and then I found out I could just smash them with my face!!

I didn't mind so much that the lasers were coming from off-screen, but I do think having some indication of which direction the laser is firing from would be a big improvement. Kept following lines into empty space. Regardless, super great game, and I look forward to seeing your entry next LDJ!
