Sacrifice Party by Tornoz

[raw]
made by Tornoz for LD 43 (COMPO)

screen2.pngscreen3.png [TW : cartoon violence against animals] This game has for theme occult ceremonies and does picture animal sacrifice. The author does not condone satanism or violence against animals.

This is a game where you need to invoke Satan, by invoking lesser demons first. You can see it as a mix between cooking mama and Keep talking and nobody explodes.

My body decided that the ludum dare weekend was a great time to be ill. I managed the most I could but I did prioritize my health. This is why stuff that I wanted in (sound, for example) is absent.

I hope you will enjoy it nonetheless. The interface and goals are a bit obscure and that's part of the gameplay (partly).

The game is only played with mouse or touch (i recommend the android version)

Made with HaxeFlixel on ArchLinux using vscode as an editor. Graphics made with Gimp.

Known bug: if you get the same recipe for two demons/Satan, you won't be able to win, just restart the game.

I only managed to invoke Cthulhu :( but it was so hilarious that was worth it! I did one draw correct but I think it was not the right moment. The concept is awesome! A little bit confusing at the beggining I wish you had more time to work on it. Congratulations for this :)

Really liked the drawing mechanic, I'd be interested to know how it was implemented. Fun little game and good use of the theme.

Great game that has some nice mechanics going on! Lots of humour and I kept playing it for quite a while! Well done!

Too bad there wasn't any sound :( I really enjoyed the game and that's the thing it was mostly missing, since your loop is pretty tight. Well done!

Nice work, sort of reminded me of Trauma Center style gameplay with needing to prepare things by steps and drawing. The demon responses were funny. You got a lot of done, good job!

518 is good or bad? Really liked it after a few seconds taken to understand what I had to do. Great job!

Thank you for your comments!

@raziyya here's the specific code if you're interested : https://github.com/tornoz/LudumDare43/blob/master/source/minigames/Pentagram.hx#L125 basically it checks every pixel against 3 PNGs containing the reference drawings to check what drawing was the player trying to make and attributes a score for the bad/ok/nice/perfect rating.

@rolly that's quite good! I didn't have time to balance the score like I should have and the sacrifice minigame counts waaay too much compared to the octagram drawing, so that means you mainly nailed that part.

This was cool! Struggled with the drawings but I was quite good at chopping of the head of the :bird: :smiling_imp:

Really nice game. Gonna dig into the code for the drawing comparison, I always love those kinds of mechanics but never made one myself. Played it 3 times over, loads of fun.

Heheh, it's totally a cooking mama or trauma center type game. Not the *most* innovative but a fun idea and new spin. I played with mouse, but I can tell touch would be lots better. Would have loved to have more steps involved for the higher up demons.

I couldn't get it to work (only got cthulhu), but I like the theme and concepts.

Lots of fun! I enjoyed summoning cthulu. The drawing mechanic was pretty cool, managed to get perfect on one of them. Quite different from anything else I have played this LD. Was a bit sad when I summoned Satan cos he didn't have any witty banter like the lesser demons. The other thing that would have really brought this game to life would be some sound! Great job.

Really neat mechanics and hand-drawn art style. I agree with the above comment that sounds could really add to the fun. I wanted to hear chanting and epic lightning strikes. :)
