Build and Control drones as you manage your own little chunk of space!
Hey there! This is my entry for LD38. It was a lot of fun to participate.
I didn't get anywhere near as done as I would have liked. There's honestly not much game to be played. But not much is still something! A lot of the core mechanics exist in code but aren't really fleshed out. But know that anything that works is legit!
Anyway... the intention of this game is to be somewhat of a civ management/resource collection game. You are a drone operator managing a small floating piece of land in space known as a "spacechunk". These chunks of space have become valuable as resource pools and farms, so companies hire operators like you to deploy drones to manage them.
Once you load in, you'll find yourself looking at your chunk, a drone, and a console. You can use this console to send commands to your drones. By default your home base receives these messages, but you can link to drones in order to give them tasks. The drones can be used to harvest resources around the chunk. Just click the blocks you want to collect, and send the "harvest" command to a drone.
Now, I was hoping to have more, but currently it's only drones and crystals. But with the framework I built, I can build more tools like turrets and fighters. The intention was to also add enemies to harass and destroy your facilities, which would have definitely made this somewhat of a game.
Either way, I hope you check out S P A C E C H U N K, even if it's just to enjoy my original (bad) music or really cool title screen. Thanks!

POST JAM CHANGE LOG: - Added dialog to let you know when you've done everything.(Spoiler: There's not a lot to show) - Changed visually intense splash screen color to something less brutal on the eyes. - Fixed bug that would prevent crystals from being collected.
KNOWN BUGS: - UI does not focus properly. So typing can move the camera and clicking on the console can hit a block behind it. I was going to fix them post-jam but I was kind of low on time so I relented. Plus it's not game breaking.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Click the text input under the console to type.
- You send commands in the format "/command". Type "/help" to see the available commands.
- You will have a drone by default, but you can build a new one using "/build drone".
- Drones cost resources to build. You can view your inventory by typing "/inv"
- In order to send commands to a drone, you need to connect to it. Type "/link name", replacing name with the 4 character name above the drone.
- Once you're linked with a drone, you can use drone-specific commands. Type "/help" again to see these commands.
- Drones can be used to harvest those pink crystals, click on the crystals you want to mine and type "/harvest"
You can move the console by dragging the title bar, and minimize by clicking the button there. You can move the camera with WASD(Movement), QE(Rotation), and the scollwheel(zoom).
THANKS SO MUCH FOR CHECKING IT OUT

But seriously, I really appreciate the work you put into the look of the game.
My only bug is that the screen controls work when you're typing in the terminal and entering a command deselects the terminal...
Unfortunately don't really have the time to fix this, also agree with the point that if it's not game breaking it should stay. Hopefully it's not too annoying.
Vexels are beautiful, audio is great too.
Solid foundation for a great game
A nice idea overall, especially for such a short period of time, though I really do not get operating everything via the command line, except there's a good reason for that. What I'd advise is to control the bots via some sort of a dialogue, create some type of smart AI. "Work, work" "Be happy to" etc. Yeah, I know it's time-consuming. Just for the future development of this particular game. Smth like "/go harvest" and the bot knows where to go without any additional clicking. You do not really need that extra-click. Let it be smarter :)
Some sort of a dialogue could occur:
you: "go build"
bot: "no mun - no fun!"
Et cetera.
### Gameplay
I really lack a nice little goal here. A goal is a game. For now its a toy and an idea. Give me a reason to operate.
###Art and Music.
Totally awesome. Go on with that.
## Sum up.
Please go on with that. The game deserves its development. Your strong side is art. Let it blossom. And add some humor and purpose. That will build you the 1st prototype worth pitching to a publisher or kickstarter. GO ON!
That said, while there isn't that much to do, the things that are there look very polished. The visuals are great (nice colour scheme), the music suits it very well. I wish there was more to play, cause I would play it. Nice work!
Also, I'm jealous of the CLI implementation and curved screen effect.
I love using the Linux terminal, so the addition was quite welcome. I can imagine if the game was bigger it would make great use of this asset.
I would of loved for more game play, but time constraints. :)
Maybe I missed it, but it would be cool if there was a key shortcut to return the cursor to the terminal quickly.
I really hope you work on this more. I would be interested to see what it looks like when it is finally finished. Great job.
All in all, good prototype you could probably base a great game on.
