Snakeout by BoltKey
A combination of two truly classic genres - breakout and snake.
Play in your browser: https://boltkey.cz/snake-out/.

In Snakeout, you score by making balls hit tiles you create.
Die by crushing either into another tile or a ball.
Here is a gameplay time lapse of the Arcade mode

There are 4 modes of play.
- Arcade: The snake gets faster over time and can collect useful powerups. The default mode.
- Yellow powerup: adds another ball to the game
- Red powerup: makes all the balls explosive
- Blue powerup: balls can slice through walls
- Triball: Test your multitask skills and don't crash into any of the 3 balls!
Pro: Fast speed of snake, with just one ball. Show your snake skills and trap that ball into narrow spaces to score a lot!
Tactic: Plan ahead and prepare traps for the ball in advance. In this mode, there is one slow snake and one fast ball.
Your highscores are connected to the IP you play from. Sorry about that, but there was no better solution at the time.

Supplement mechanicks make this game solid and playable :)
@john-darrington Thanks, although I know the balls bounce in a way they should not. But mostly, it works.
@Poroh I have a bad habit of making challenging games... Hope it was not frustrating for you!
@Andreadbx Thanks, at first, I had no inspiration, but in the end, I got something usable.
@radical-dog All my past musical creations went horrible and made the game worse, you are right some music would be nice, but I just didn't make any. Could you be more specific about graphic polish? Which parts you didn't like? Which graphical effects would you want to see added?
Why there is no music in your game? Some 8-bit music will suit to it
@Jiri_One Be more specific about the graphics please, I quite like it as it is. What feels unpolished about current version?
@drikdrok Glad you like it, really appreciate it! I play it every now and then, and still have fun!
there is some issue with turning just befor block, just movement, it is hard todescribe the issue just try to tur just before you hit the block. When the block is there is harder for a player to make turn in time
The sound effects were great but in my opinion did not "match" the art of the game, or rather the art could have been improved to not look as primitive and maybe look more arcade-ish. I think the colours could be changed and that would significantly improve the look of the game.
I understand that it's not easy for everyone to create music but I really appreciate when the game is not completely silent. I would suggest using a tool such as [Abundant Music](https://pernyblom.github.io/abundant-music/index.html) or [Jukedeck](https://www.jukedeck.com) and create music with the power of AI :)
The leaderboard was a nice feature and it adds a lot to this kind of game. Well done! :smiley:
@Sholf @Rombus Thanks! The theme ended up being quite inspiring!
@Vyolfers Practice makes perfect :wink:
@Blinkenlights I focused on the gameplay, so audio and graphics were not that flexed out.
@Lerc Maybe it was because of the explosions of red balls? Even when you get hit by the explosion, you die.
@acoto87 Thanks! Honestly, I was quite surprised to see that it actually worked so nicely once I made it!
check out our game as well hope you will like it

@FormalCloud Soon...
@edj99 Short individual length but high replay value was what I was aiming for. I didn't have much time to really make the graphics nice, gameplay was my number 1 priority with this game.
@samuel-henderson @Keithdae I felt like when I changed the gameplay variables, there were always some interesting new aspects of the gameplay. I ended up making multiple modes, because I just couldn't decide!
Congrats with your scores!
