A Way Home by CaptainPilot

[raw]
made by CaptainPilot for LD 43 (JAM)

LD43Logo.png

Pilot your fleet home through the system without taking heavy loses from asteroids. Sacrifice ships by leaving them behind. They avoid getting killed but they'll never make it home.

  • WASD / Arrow to Rotate fleet
  • Click to remove fleet section
  • Drag to adjust view!

It's risk/reward gameplay. Can you rotate your ships such that the asteroids go through the gaps (and score lots of points in the process) or do you take the hit and dismiss ships immediately but reducing scoring potential in future rounds?

Made (almost) solo during the evenings. Art assets from a friend. Music from a previous release.

Really liked the idea of the game, the artstyle was really flashy and it fit really well with the whole feeling of the game. Music was top-notch but I see it was from a previous release, still really awesome! I enjoyed the game, wish you could have expanded a bit more on the gameplay and puzzle mechanics though.

A really fun little game! I could see it working really well on mobiles with swipe controls, possibly with a few score-based unlocks to keep you playing between runs.

Interesting idea! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/Y2UiyhFvqPg

The graphics and music is really good in this game. The gameplay idea was fine, but i am not sure I do understand the rotate fleet system. Overall a good LD game.

The graphics and music are great. It's difficult to predict how rotating will affect the fleet, which can be frustrating at times. Perhaps being able to continue rotating the fleet even while the asteroids are moving would help with that. Overall, nice work.

A good looking game, and the timed-rubicube gameplay was a neat original idea. But the fun was hampered by the unreasonably short timeframes in which you're allowed to rotate. Even if you see a way to rotate your squadron to let the astroids pass through, you'll probably fail because you can at best rotate twice before the astroid hits.

Also, the game doesn't actually end if you complete it it seems. It just loads a new system name and no astroids appear. I couldn't even see my final score.

Very nice executed in field of art. Very nice idea if we are talking about gameplay! The mood swing all the way!

Controls could be more responsive and I think you should add some indicators because it's very hard to predict the movement of the ships.

Anyway, this one was quite fun to play!

Hey! Interesting concept, I spent some time to figure out how to safe the most ships ;)

Really nice idea, fits very well on the theme. Controls and graphics needs a little more work, but as said by other person, this could easily be a mobile game. Good job!
