This is our first game, not just for Ludum Dare but also our first game as a team. Coming into this we knew little about Game Design, yet we think that actually we've come out with something not half bad. It's perhaps not at a competition winning standard, but we're still very pleased that we actually managed to produce something in the time allotted.

Essentially, our game is a 2D space shooter in which you pilot a spaceship and kill enemies, with the twist that anything you do slowly drains you of energy. We implemented waves of enemies that would follow you and fire various weapons at you before you face a final boss (yes it's a little cliché, but we couldn't resist).

There are 3 control modes: (Accessed in the pause menu through the escape key) - Mouse Controls - Where the mouse controls rotation and WASD control movement relative to that. - Keyboard Controls - Where the A and D controls rotation and WSQE control movement relative to that. - Absolute Controls - Where the mouse controls rotation, but the ship moves according to the WASD keys absolutely (so W is always up).

The balance of the game is not entirely perfect, and it is lacking polish in some areas (such as the obvious omittance of an animation when a laser beam hit's something), but overall we're very pleased to say that it is our first game.

We hope you have fun playing it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Change Log - Fixed an issue with the instruction screen's scaling. - Set the default controls for the player to Absolute because people seemed to be confused by Mouse Controls. - Fixed the boss shock-wave effect because it was repeating indefinitely as opposed to only playing once.

Thought the boss fight was cool. Maybe add more weapons to use.

Nice game, but for me controlling the ship was a little bit hard

I like the art style and having a boss fight too is impressive. I found the movement to be a little hard to get used to since it was all relative to direction faced.

Fun game! Controlling the ship was difficult for me as well. Maybe having the player move in world space rather than relative to the mouse would be smoother? Great game nonetheless.

Definitely looks good! It's a shame the ship seems to have that alligator jigglin' fever. And the laser sounds are a little rough on the ears. But on the bright side, the ship controls pretty smooth!

Good job!

A solid entry. The control mechanics were actually rather interesting although they were a little bit complicated to get the hang of. Wonky I might call them. Unconventional, but with a very very high skill ceiling. i would have liked to see more feedback both in audio and in visual cues. Overall, welldone, especially for your first venture into game design as a team. Cheers!

Nice to add different control options but i found it hard to control the ship using any of them, the sound is repetitive and high, at least in my opinion. Other than that it's a really cool game.

The audio is pretty painful. The control scheme is also very disorienting. The graphics look nice though!

I like the theme and the art style, controlling the ship was a little bit hard at first but you get used to it.
Some music would be nice and the laser sound gets a bit repetitive. Also some sort of feedback for hitting the enemies would be good (an animation as you mentioned and a sound effect). Overall a nice experience!

- The screen seems a little small. The laser and missile ships both have ranges that are larger than the screen.
- Love the design of the laser ship.

Really liked the game the only thing that got me was that (at least in the web view) the aim was off, the ship was shaking (triyng to aim at the cursor).
The boss fight was awesome!

You guys did a great job, well done!

Really had fun playing it! The boss fight with the great laser ship was awesome!
The only thing that needs a little bit of work is the aim I guess, because the ship was shaky sometimes.

Great job, well done!

Hey, nice game, I like the pew pew pew sound :D Als, loved the wya the enemies leave debris when defeated and the fact that your power meter cracks when you are low. Great job!

This is a very good game! For your first game, you should be very proud that you were able to create such a good game by the deadline. The graphics were really good and the laser sound effect definitely added to the experience. Your little backstory at the beginning also gave your game some substance and made it more interesting. Overall, I had fun playing your game. Great job and well done!

Game was a little short but very fun. Graphics were nice and suited the game as did the sound effects. Shame you were not able to add hit animations and other polish but this comes down to time restrictions. Good job on you first game!

Really impressive.

Fast paced, good balance and controls that feel "right": inertia, rotation speed, ...

Great job.

Well balanced classic arcade game! I managed to clear the final boss with just a little bit of power left. I'm not sure, but it kind of didn't feel like shooting & flying cost any energy and that was a bit of a surprise. Not saying the game should have been more difficult in total though. For a while too, I was also slightly confused about if I was supposed to stay and protect my piece of space (if there were anything worth protecting) or if I was intended to go somewhere. It might have said something in the instructions, but that was a bit too much text right away there. But that was just a minor distraction, and the tight warp made my confusion not matter so much. So again, well made game!

Very smooth and polished - well worth playing twice. The boss was pretty easy, it could have been nice to give him a few more attacks, but I know time is limited.
