A Giant's Tale by TheGamer1123211

[raw]
made by TheGamer1123211 for LD 38 (COMPO)

Story:

This is the story of you... A Giant. One day, you got kidnapped and woke up in a strange place. When you woke up, you were small, even though you are a giant. You could still change your length. You were confused and went on an interesting journey home.

Controls:

  • A and D to move
  • W and S to change size
  • Space to jump up onto platforms
  • E to interact
  • Esc to pause

NOTE: You cannot move when you are scaled, since you are to wobbly.

This should have been a part of the tutorial, but a bug caused it to not show correctly. Sorry! will probably fix later ( if i can  )

Everything made by me, since this is compo :)

Really nice! I like your theme interpretation and the concept. The graphic is simple, but it works! Just one thing, maybe I know why you didn't do that and I get it, but it's really a limitation to not move while you are tall :\

Very neat concept! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation [video series](https://youtu.be/2umBRLlsy2g), if you’d like to take a look :)

I am very impressed at how complete this game feels for a compo entry! The growing and shrinking mechanic is unique and interesting and is used it many cool ways. The dialog is clever and fun to read, it is very easy that text in games becomes too long to bother to read.

Overall a really great entry, well done! :)

I like how you have a level select screen. That actually helped me because I got stuck 2 times on level 2 for some reason. It was after I got the second key. The third time I skipped the key by jumping on top of the hill. Interesting mechanic. It was annoying that you can't walk with the extend legs, though I understand why. Great job for 48 hours!

Can't interact on the left one but can on the right:

Interesting idea. It was pretty hand-holdy straight up giving up all the solutions to the already easy puzzles. Would have wanted more and harder puzzles. Also would have been cool to be able to walk when all stretched out.
