Mayan Sacrifice by Paradox
Here is the result of my first Ludum Dare. It's also the first game I make. I made the game (obviously!), The music and some textures, the rest of the textures come from http://opengameart.org/

I had planned a bigger game with 23 levels and boss through the mayan mythology but I quickly realized that I would not have enough time at all, so I have one level but with increasing difficulty. (I will maybe update it in the next few days with more content)

The Game : Ah Kinchil, the sun god is angry and threatens to destroy the Mayan civilization. You sacrificed yourself to calm him, but that does not seem to be enough. The sun god claims more blood: the blood of demons of Xibalba: the underworld.

This is gonna be a brutal one to be honest. Now I like the general idea of the game, however when actually playing the game it didnt feel like the music really fit the theme. The art style wasnt consistent either. Nothing wrong with programmer art but consistency is key. I also, in the current iteration did not find any sacrifice to be made, or at least it wasnt clear to me. Either way, congratulations on finishing your first game, I like the idea but it needs more work.

@olavdeng2 Thanks for your feedback. I take lot of the art from http://opengameart.org/ so it's why it wasn't consistent. It's the first time I make music too and I was a bit in a hurry to post my game so I didn't really take time to make it more "in the mood". The idea I had for my game was too complicated for me in such a short time so I had to reduce a lot of things and the theme has become blurred.

I really like your bgm style, it has a very cool atmosphere. The differences between each lvs are kind of hard to tell, but the player upgrade is obvious. Overall, good job. I like the theme picking, mayan is very cool.
