In Being Plundered, you are a hard-working asteroid miner who dreams of rich life. Yet every time you get closer to your dreams, those damn space pirates show up and force you to spend your money on repairs.

Reach your dream goal of $100000 by mining asteroids and selling the ore, but watch out for the pirates! The more ore and money you have, the more pirates there will be!

Tips

  • Use the laser on an asteroid. The asteroid will blow up eventually, netting you some ore!
  • When away from the space station, the green arrow points towards it
  • A good way to kite the pirates is to go backwards and shoot
  • Fire the laser AND the cannon at the same time when fighting pirates!
  • Use the radar!
  • Moving in the space station doesn't consume fuel
  • Pirates cannot into space (station)

Love this. Very well made game in all aspects (gameplay, graphics, audio). Had to check if it is a Compo entry :)

Love the songs! I really enjoyed flying the ship, really my kind of game (look at my entry!) with physics-based control.

Whaow this game feels so complete. I mean gameplay itself is pretty good and entertaining but little things like music change on 'safe zone', how pirates warp in after you destroy asteroids and movement in generals feels so smooth. This game feels really polished, most impressing for 48 hours. Well done, well done.

Fun game - I got so close to winning but the pirates overwhelmed me. (97k and 1 asteroid very close to base) Liked the music and graphics quite a bit. Thanks for a fun game.

Hey, you weren't kidding about similar ideas! Yours is definitely WAAAY more polished than mine, however, but you've very much made a game right in line with what I was hoping for with mine. Feels complete, the refueling/repair station is great, and it's surprising relaxing (not something I had in mind for mine, heh).

Super slick. Congrats!

Nice game. Like the buying options. Combat could use some more explosions and stuff. Also the music was very nice.

It has a good amount of content for something made in 48 hours. I just recommend changing the controls of the web version (not that you could change them anymore, though), for example pressing Ctrl and Space takes me to the starting page in Opera, and Alt opens a menu.

This. Is. Amazing. I love it!

# Good stuff:

- It's got so many small details, like the warping-in animation that the pirates do, and the little maneuvering thrusters when turning.
- I love the music and sound effects.
- Graphics are great too - I really like the style.

# Bad stuff:

- I feel like there's way too much drag inside the space station. It's really hard to move in there.
- There doesn't seem to be any damage when you hit something, which makes 'crash into stuff to save fuel when slowing down' a valid tactic.

Wowww this is solid. I love the slowing down near the power ups like it's a space station. I like the bounce back on the purple gaseous boundary of space. I like the space ships, rather intimidating but as long as you don't freeze up like a deer in headlights you can take them rope-a-dope style strafe maneuver. I'm gonna keep playing! Excellent work. And nice touch allowing the player to toggle music that's thoughtful!

Thank you everyone who played my game! I love the feedback you've given :).

Hey @willbl3pic thanks for the constructive criticism.

- The drag inside the space station is a lot, I agree. I think I will spend some time thinking for a better solution if I continue development.

- Good point about the crashing! This wouldn't be hard to add. Maybe I will :).

Very complex game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUur4iynK94

I had a lot of fun with this game. It reminds me of [Asteroid Scavenger](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/asteroid-scavenger) by @blueman which was one of my favourites from LD39. Others have praised most of the things I like about Being Plundered so I won't repeat their words.

I found that the best strategy is to rush out, mine an asteroid, and rush back to the station without ever interacting with the pirates at all. You can easily move faster than the pirates or their bullets so it's easiest to just never fight them :) plus you save money on repairing your ship. Early in the game I found it fun to fight the pirates (I've never seen this type of combat in a game before but I really like it) but in my pursuit of $100k it was just better to avoid them.

I don't like that weird shaky effect on the background while mining, it's disorienting. I also wish that you could keep playing after reaching $100k. I was looking forward to mining every single asteroid in the whole map.

Solid game, I'm really glad I played it :)

This would go very nicely with a perhaps more advanced ship building feature (kinda like nimbatus I am imagining here)

Nice game that fits the theme quite well. For expansion, I would have liked to seethe opportunity to upgrade my ship. After all, I am mining asteroids just to fix and fuel my ship. I'd like to be able to get a better one. Great job with the limitations, though!

Yeeahh, made it to 100k (barely). Blocking space pirates with asteroids was a surprisingly optimal strategy.

I liked the drag effect at the space station, though I'll admit it's kinda disheartening if you get shot while entering it and can't do anything. Overall, the game felt like a very complete package to me. All thumbs up!

Thanks to @Iamsodarncool for the compliment and bringing me to this game! With a hard theme imo, it was hard to be creative, but you followed the theme well with an original idea nonetheless. The combat felt a little stiff, but the rest of the game was smooth to play. It looks nice and the music is a good addition, well made!

I suck at this type of game, but enjoy it.
music fits well and melancholic mood is great.
Not really original but well executed!

Never was good at asteroid game but this one was enjoyable for me. One thing I learnt: Never mine large asteroids. The music is a bliss to hear. Good Work.

Neat game. I think this is my favorite compo game so far. The turning is a bit fast which makes movement challenging and it gets pretty hard once a ton of ships start warping in. I thought it was based on amount you were hauling but I mined a small asteroid and 5+ ships still warped in. I guess its based on the largest asteroid you mined so you should probably go in size order?

@rasm Hey thanks for playing! The amount of pirates is based on the amount of money you have & the amount of ore you have & the amount of ore you are getting from the asteroid. So if you have 10k money and 5 ore and you mine an asteroid worth of 5, you get (10 + 5 + 5 / 10) = 2 pirates.

Very nice game! At first I felt that there is quite a lot of things to learn but as soon as I learned the basics I really enjoyed the game. I even managed to reach 100000$. Maybe the AI of the pirates could have been more sophisticated (for example anticipating the direction I am flying) and controlling the spaceship was a bit sluggish. However, the overall design and implementation is very good!

Hey, cool game here, mining asteroids with lazers is always great. The pirates arrival animation is a nice touch. It was fun to play it. Only wish speed around station was a bit faster.

I loved the art and the music. The controls are tricky, but I like the idea a lot. We played your game on our Twitch stream. There will be a video of it posted on our Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW4XMpP2tKwBCS5NEgPGbhA?

Really solid effort. Everything works and feels solid in its execution. I am an asteroids hater, but this kept me playing way longer than most would. Pleasant experience all round. If you are still in the market for playing games I still need some ratings to get my 20. Run Guys could do with a little help! Thanks

I really enjoy the mix of relaxing grunt-work and action-packed gunfights. Dynamic music could really take this somewhere.

What I'm having most problems with is what to do when those pesky pirates follow me back to base.

![how-to-get-out 2017-12-16 kl. 12.41.26.png](///raw/04f/z/e9e0.png)

Cant really find a good way to break out of this situation since I cant fire the guns from inside the shield.

Speaking of the home base, using different docking stations for different purposes (sell ore, refill fuel, repair ship) is a really nice touch.

This game has so much polish and features for a compo entry it's sick. Great mechanics and stuff.
